Expose and 360 Degree's

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So one of my friends puts this on the HSF falcon. It's incredible nasty.

Also does it and hans ability work with gunner? Because he basically rolls 4 dice at range 2-3, 4 times if needed and 5 dice, 4 times at range 1 in 360 degrees

Is this correct?

Expose spends an action to reduce your defense, to increase your primary weapon value until end of turn.

Gunner still uses the primary weapon value.
The YT-1300's primary weapon can fire outside of its firing arc.
This means that Han is potentially rolling 2 attacks of 4 dice (5 at R1), each with an internal re-roll of all 4 (or 5) dice.

So, yes, this works. However, you're spending quite a few points on an upgrade that reduces your survivability, and reduces the utility of Gunner as well, as how often would you miss with 4 dice?

Focus fire that thing. Kill the beast while it's wounded. 13 HP doesn't last many rounds when you're rolling 0 Greens.

Yup. He's also rolling 0 agility dice (base).

But Biggs with R2-F2 comes to the rescue...

Exactly!! And biggs is at range 3, slamming into the Falcon each turn, while it is at range 2.

I think expose should have stated something like this instead. When being shot at all blanks on the attack dice are switched to focus. Then you would truly be exposed.

Yikes no offense but that's a terrible idea, if your attacker is focused that is guaranteed all hits... Yeah I'd rather just lose 1 agility.

Possibly the first time ever anyone has complained about Expose being overpowered.

Let me correct that.

Action: Gain +1 Attack. However, when being attacked all blanks on the attack dice are switched to focus. Then you would truly be exposed.

For fun a couple times I ran chewie with expose, jan with squad leader and ion cannon, and a proto awing I think. That gave chewie 5-6 attack dice plus a target lock from jan's squad leader. I 1-shotted a few tie fighters/interceptors which was fun, but once chewie goes down you don't have much left to fight with.

But Biggs with R2-F2 comes to the rescue...

Or C-3PO for an auto evade against EVERY attack.

[Grabs 0 dice] "Uhhhh....I'm gonna guess I roll zero evades.... Oh look, 3PO gives me an evade!"

3PO only works once per round.

Besides, he neither works if you roll 0 dice. You have to roll at least 1 defense dice in order for him to tell you the odds.

Is there FAQ for that somewhere that I've missed, becausevi would have said that rolling 0 dice is still rolling dice if thats the correct number. Its like spending focus to change 0 when rolling all blanks.

FAQ page 4.

Spending Tokens

When attacking, players may spend focus tokens or target locks and elect not to modify any attack dice. When defending, players may spend focus tokens and elect not modify any defense dice and may spend evade tokens to add evade results in excess of the number of hit and critical hit results.

FAQ page 7, Garven Dreis's

A ship may spend a focus token during an

attack even if there are no [eye] results to

change (including an attack where no dice are

rolled, such when a ship has a faceup Blinded

Pilot Damage card).

From what I have seen C3PO says "Once per round before rolling 1 or more defense dice, ..."

Sorry, yep. Just went and checked the wording on the card (always a good idea) and it specifically says 1 or more dice.

Pffsh, you guys and you "good ideas." I'll continue making myself look like a jackass, thank you very much :P
