Reinforce and Homing Missiles

By Stone37, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So the wording of Reinforce for Huge ships makes it appear as if the evade result it creates is not effected by the Homing Missiles ability to nullify Evade Tokens. How can I submit this inquiry to FFG?

Thank you in advance,

Well, if you want to submit a question to FFG, up at the top of the page click the "more..." link in the nav bar and choose "customer service" and then "rules question", that will let you send them a message.

However, the reinforce token is not an evade token, they are totally different things, so I don't see any question.

There's also a Rules Question link in the tiny text at the bottom of every page on the site.

But this one is pretty clear - Reinforce tokens are not Evade tokens, and even if they were, they aren't spent to do their thing. They just add results. Two different paths to the same end result. Homing Missile won't prevent a Reinforce from doing its thing.

Looking at the rules, it's pretty clear that homing missiles don't work against the Reinforce action. I could see FFG making an errata for this, but it's possible they intended for it to work this way.

Thank you for pointing out the links to me. I understand the argument, but I think its worth submitting. As it stands, I agree with all of you Reinforce is not an Evade Token. I am submitting the argument that it should be considered a TYPE of Evade Token for balance of power issues in the game. I'll post their response here when I get it.

Why is that? Huge ships are pretty much sitting targets, and giving up their action for defense takes away a lot of their options. A Transport that just sits and Reinforces each turn is giving up two very powerful support options in Jam and Coordinate, not to mention any upgrade actions. That might be different with the CR90 since it'll still have an attack, but it's also going to be a 100+ point ship, so it probably should.

It also doesn't really make sense thematically. Evade tokens don't work on Homing Missiles because there's no dodging it. The Transport isn't exactly dodging.

Honestly, for balance reasons I tend to think Homing Missiles SHOULDN'T bypass Reinforce. Having one specific missile type that works against most/all forms of defense is a bad thing for balance. As it is, Homing Missiles are good against dodgy fighters but a wasted point against a Transport. Make it better against everything, and it becomes a highly preferred weapon.

I agree, fluff/thematically it's that the Transport is using it's action to reinforce it's shielding, making it harder for attacks to get though.

Agree with you 100% on this. If I reinforce my shields, why would it help against concussion missiles but not homing missiles? Are the explosions from the homing missile more explodey? Makes total sense that if I reinforce my shields I would take less damage from a missile, regardless of what missile it was.
