Rochester, NY Regional updates, interesting thoughts...

By Deck dont matter, in UFS Tourney Reports

Half way through round 2 with two characters Chun Li and Zi Mei both biding for Diversity and there is even a few sandbaggers floating around too. A solid 18 players from all over New York and even some of those crazy Canadians from Team Foxhound along with Kin Chan (awesomedhalsim) making it down for the event. Will keep everyone update when we break for top 8 in a bit.

Cool. Looking forward to the full report. Chun-li vs. Zei Mei - yeeouch!

Congradulations go out to Mike Lowe of Team FoxHound and his impressive victory with Chun Li here at the MillenniumGames and Hobbies UFS Regional...now its time for trash plates and sleep.

YAAAAAY MIKEY! Were ya a shivering wreck like the last time I saw you in a top 8? ;o) Heh congrads man

I lost because I literally lost Hope ;)

Specifically, in the finals vs. Chun Li game 2, I drew some cards with Bigger They Are, then played some random other form (a foundation or Olcadan's, I think) and ate a Chun-Li'd Ira-Spinta for my troubles, despite being at ~9 vitality out of 22 with Hope for One's People sitting just out of my peripheral vision (for the uninitiated: HfoP = 0/5 desperation: trade passion for glory. Very good for fighting Chun Li :) ), and lost the last of my effective Chun Li answers (Seal is nice, but not against Inhuman Perception...). And then I think then we both probably knew it was mostly a matter of time, unopposed Olcadan's, Spintas, big multiples and huge board disadvantage = gg Link :)

I had a **** good time, becoming the embodiment of the Swiss Champ curse was definitely the most nerve-wracking experience I've ever had in this game though... I played against the deck last night and got brutalized (although I could see a glimmer of hope through the sweat, pain and tears even then :3) and things just came together tonight. Can Nats is gonna own :D

Correction... The FIRST time i made top 8. This time i was fine. pretty composed. not really worried. First time making it PAST top 8 tho lol.

@Danny OMFG WINWINWINWINWINWINWINWIN That was the best/most unexpected (oddly enough) response!

@Rochesterans Thanks a lot guys for having us. It was good to see u guys again/meet some of you. See u in a month

Thanks for having us, well run show Jesse.

Mikey, your buying me a beer tomorrow!!!

GoodStuff:
Ira spinta locked everybody off the board.... (Left 1 guy with only olcadan's on the board.../Played Ira Spinta 4-5 Times against giggles in 1 match)
Rejection loop for not losing
Had fun playing against players I never played against before
Mikey, Kieth and I made a strong showing of Canuck Power, and Kin didn't do bad either but didn't get into top 8 cause he gave a victory in swiss to make sure I didn't get diversified...
NOT getting diversified
Mike was able to take the championship home
Blocking with feline spike to reversal with Feline Spike passing a 9+9 for 24 damage and dealing another 24 damage on my turn.

Bad Stuff:
Having played Kieth and Kin in swiss, and Mike in Semi finals

Man thats another for chun li starting too wonder if her power level is now on par for Rare ibuki back last year hmmmmm.....

Not only that, but its another chun li vs. frogase in the finals.

Frogase topped somewhere else too, recently? Cool I didn't know she was any good :3

I pretty much just wanted to abuse Torn Hero as much as possible in a Good deck, and Froggy lets me get that momentum easily. It was only later that I realized how silly her E + Lord of the Makai is.

Congrats Mike. Definitely glad to see ya grab some gold at a regional, since you played really strong at ours. Good job to the rest of Foxhound as well.

yeah waffle she was in the finals of the SEC, look in my report to see how that went... not too good from what i heard, we walked outside less than 10 minutes later we were told marco won 2-0... meh geez... 100 card Morrigan deck, this i gotta see.

N.J.

Posting up decks in the Deck Forum as we speak...Will note that Nick Brown's(Quazark) Alex deck and Mike Lowes(Link) Chun Li Deck will not be posted via players request.

Its ok, my deck completely crapped on my face with 3 checks in the finals. It had never played worse. And no denying marco's chun li deck is quite beastly.
