A couple Transport/Mission Questions

By PenguinBonaparte, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi, just got my transport and read through the rules. Looked around briefly but didn't find anything. So, the transport gets one "Action" a turn but during the energy phase you can do multiple things that are enabled by upgrade cards with the "Energy" label, correct? I was kind of hoping they'd have a demo round listed.

Now dumb questions: For missions H2 and H3 even though the flavor text is about escaping you lose if you fly your transport off the board, and it's only mission H1 where you want to fly away to freedom? So you've basically got to spin around on what looks like a standard 3x3 map. And only Epic and the Rendezvous mission uses a 6 by 3?

Also, when in H2 it talks about setting down the turbolaser and ion cannon tokens and not being able to place them "under" a ship, why do they need to talk about overlapping? Does that mean you could place it touching the back of a base of a ship facing away to still hit it? Thanks!

In the rules for the GR-75, on the 3rd page, there's a section about 'Energy Steps in the Activation Phase'.

So, an Activation Phase goes like this (now with added snark ^_^ ):

1) Reveal Dial

That little wheel thing is turned over.

2) Set Template

Put the thing in front of the thing with the thing

3) Execute Maneuver

King's TIE pawn to queen's asteroid 2

4) Check Pilot Stress

Huge ships are immune to stress

5) Clean Up

Make the board pretty. Tactical ship bumping goes here.

6) Energy

Here, you gain energy equal to the amount on your dial. Then, you may use that energy. Quote:

  • "The GR-75 may use one or more of its Upgrade cards or Damage cards with the 'Energy:' header. Each card with this header can be used once per round."

7) Perform Action

Here you get to do one action.

So, Energy gets to be done in addition to actions, but keep in mind you aren't getting THAT much energy a round.

As for the missions, yes it appears to be a 3x3 board. 8 rounds doesn't allow for a lot of spinning with the Transport. :)

They talk about overlapping because, in this game, having something touch a base doesn't mean the things are touching. You have to overlap that round. So you could place the token down and have it physically touch a ship, but in the strict rules of the game, it's not touching. Also, since you put down the tokens during the End phase, but they trigger at the end of the Activation phase, all ships will move prior to the effects happening.

Awesome, thanks! I went back looking but guess I still missed a lot. Including the effects triggering in the next round for those blast tokens.
