Variant: Time Limit (Your opinions)

By Artaterxes, in Talisman Home Brews

Hi everyone,

Suppose that you need to limit a game session. What would be the time limit and how would you determine a winner?

I thought that if nobody has been declared a winner by the time limit, then nobody wins the game. The players can debate among themselves who was the closest to winning.

What do you think?

Let me know if you have "time limit" variants too!

When the last beer has been drunk!

:P

Sometimes we discuss who had the best chances of winning. Read: Who had the best spells and objects/followers at that given time. There are only very few strategic cards (like 10 or less) that may help winning, so usually the owner of them is the winner.

Or we just flip a coin.

I only play two player games, with my wife.

They seem to last for hours, which is fine. We tend to go our own paths and not really encounter each other very often (but this changes based on who our characters are and other situations).

But at some point its late and too much of ______ (fill in favorite "refreshment") and we then agree to play 1 more hour, 1 half hour or some other variable. Next time a life is lost, next time a Dragon Lord is crowned, etc. EDIT! Of course using the Night/Day mechanic gives that opportunity too. Next time Darkness Falls, or next time Sun rises.

My friends and I played our first game last night, I won by default when the last player opted out because it was getting too late. So we figured we're going to have a 3 hour time limit on every single game from now on. Once the time limit is reached whoever's on the crown of command wins, or if it is in contention between multiple players it's a win for all those players. If no one is on the crown of command, all the players are gathered up for Battle Royale alternative ending.
