Prefab fleets for quick 2 player skirmishes?

By krechevskoy, in X-Wing

I am looking to see if there are any suggestions for what would be quick pre-fab fleets for quick setup. (and not like the scenarios in the book).

Mainly looking to prefab: pilots, items, and ship selection for both sides and looking for a good setup where either can win with the tactics and items for both sides.

I'm not looking for optimal I'm looking for equal.

I realize this may make some very generic squads, but looking for something where I can pick out an index card of pre-fabs fleets and say this is what we are paying to cut down on the setup time.

I have come up with some generic X-wing vs Tie matches, but wanted to branch out and see if others have found some good pre sets (for 2) where 2 players can pick up and start.

May the 4th be with you!!

I also asked the same thing here in the Board Game Geek X-wing forums.

You're going to get some radically divergent answers with a question like that. Many (if not most) sub-T1 lists are relatively equal in terms of balance, so your best bet is to look around the forum here for lists that interest you and pair them yourself.

Build squadron lists for whatever point total you want to play.

Put each list on a index card.

Randomly draw two cards.

Note that you may need to be careful about upgrades. While you should be good with ships if one side pulls from the Rebel lists and the other the Imperial lists but upgrades could mess things up.

When it comes to "quick" setup are there any squadrons that would be easier to set up than three Bounty Hunters?

Come to think of it, probably not.

I've really been considering this exact question but I'm no where near a good enough list builder to develop lists with some semblance of parity.

Honestly, I brainstorm lists faster than I can play them, let alone test them with minor variations against multiple opposing lists. It's a seemingly endless endeavor, but it's more fun than playing with somebody else's cookie-cutter builds.

very easy:

use the x wing squadron builder from the UK, it has randomized builds based on what you own and they totally rock!

you might have to do a little tweaking, or run it a few times, but you wll get some playable builds that will be generally, casually, competitive.

Are you asking because you hate having time wasted on people working out lists before you start playing. If so, check out Battlescribe which is available on iOS, Android and Windows. It works offline and lets you create and store all of your lists. I sue this so that when I rock up, I can just pick a list that I have created earlier (often during a lunch break, or on a train ride) and know everything that I want to use.
