Were the original interceptors in grey rather than the blue on the bombers and Saber interceptors? Do you think FFG are ever going to switch to blue TIE fighters and Advanceds in a reprint run? Which TIE colour do you prefer?
Blue TIEs and Grey TIEs
I prefer black TIE myself, but really as long as it isn't TIE dye...
In the first SW movie (ep 4) all of the TIEs were light grey in color. This includes the TIE Fighter and Advanced. In both ep 5 and 6 the TIEs began to have a bluish grey color. This included the TIE Fighter, Bomber and Interceptor, but not the Advanced since it was only in the first movie.
According to memory, all of the TIEs were intended on having the bluish grey color but the blue screen techniques used in ep 4 washed the blue color away and all you saw was the light grey. I've heard this, but it never made too much sense seeing as the model for the Advanced can be seen clearly with the light grey paint scheme.
Personally I like the look of the light grey. I think it gives the Empire a cold look and feel, kinda like skeleton bones. Also with the contrasting black solar panels, I just think it looks better than the bluish grey.
I like the light grey better too. I always felt it went better with the grey of the Star Destroyers much better.

Originally the TIEs were supposed to be half white and half red... but that was abandoned before it all got off the ground... would have been cool to see those..
I personally like the difference of the grey for TIE fighters and the blue grey for the others...the grey sets them apart...
