Is raging gnome really that good?

By FenMiHuo, in UFS General Discussion

It seems to me that some people (and websites) think its some godly 20-25 dollar card, I dont see it.

Its got awesome stats if you build a deck specifically around it, other then running it with ivy's support though really, is it worth that much? Its higher valued then hoyoku-sen was initially.

It's just making it a pain to get because I want to build an ivy deck for fun, and the cost on it is huge, I'm just wondering are people really running it that much to warrant its current value?

Is it really that powerful or is it a supply and demand thing because people like building fun gimmicky decks like me?

I think CSI and any of the people that said that are full of crap. It is not on the level of cards like spike(which was 20 until the set went out of print). I wouldn't value it anywhere near that high.

This is a case of pure supply and demand. Ivy is popular and people are buying the card, so they charge more. That being said im pretty sure it works with multiples because they ahve a printeded difficulty of nill which becomes 0, so it does make for a cute finisher in some builds.

Yeah I was talking about this with my playgroup the other day. Are people maye playing it wrong and thinking it works with Holding Ground and TKDZ like abilities or something?

Even with multiple copies, the original attack would have to be 3 printed diff and have at least multiple:3, and without Ivy's silliness it's basically 7 diff 7 damage IF you get off the trigger... and if the original attack isn't 3diff Gnome becomes 8+ diff... and the multiple attack has to be at least multiple:4? Or two multiple attacks... now Gnome is 9 diff and the opponent hasn't died from just the 6 attacks preceding it yet?

It's not gonna stay $20 unless Ivy turns out to be top tier.

I think she's up there. And she dosen't even need the Gnome to do it. Path of the Master can make the last attack she plays huge (this is, of course, if she can play out a huge strong of attacks).

Maki High Noble/Visions of Destiny/Path of the Master makes for stupid draw too. Just sayin'.

Did you mean lord of the makai? At least then I understand the combo I think, makai high noble doesnt make any sense.

also shes pretty good but I dont think she's going to be top tier.

Raging Gnome as printed is okay. If you are playing it with Ivy you have to consider 2 things.

1. Will you play it early in an attempt to draw off of it dealing damage?

OR

2. Do you hold it and play it at full damage, hoping to use it as a kill card.

There are a few Ivy decks around here and the one without the Raging Gnome seems to do better overall. It's not worried about holdig onto attack, and it just plays everything it's got and tends to kill pretty easy. It's great to see Switching Weapon Styles followed by 11 attacks to kill someone, just looks awesome.

No, Gnome is not a $20-$25 card.

That being said... everyone and their dog wants gnomes. Hell, I want more Gnomes. Heck, I would have collected Gnomes, because Raging Gnome is right up there with Rabid Wombat.

So... while the demand is up there, the card is worth that much.

When people aren't buying it, the price will drop.

When people buy more of Set 12, and more of set 12 gets out there... Gnomes will cost less.

Yes. That IS what I meant.

I suck at this. :D

SO TRUE. The name is really the main reason I want it (along with a minor penchant for pokes).

This may be a bad time to tell you that we're pulling Gnomes left and right. Also, Cervantes stuff, which I happily nom'd.

I have :James Hata: Will trade for Gnome.

Gnome is really not all that bad, theres other cards that are not Ivy that make you ignore progressive difficulty (SF box topper from the last set), or help mitigate it (sailors rest, cervanties). Its totally has uses outside of ivy. That being said its not a $20 card to be sure.

This may be a bad time to tell you that I personally have no gnomes and everyone and their mother wants them.

I think people are just trying to abuse supply and demand with them, I am tired of getting offered a gnome for my controller of souls and knight breaker cause it aint happenin :-P

But yea, I will wait till demand dies down to get some I'm happy with my set of menuett dances

on a unreleated note, got my e-mail?

I'm going to go on the assumption that I'm in the minority in thinking Ivy herself is barley mid tier, and Raging G-Nomes is brutally overated? Sure you can poke me ten times and take me down to half my life, but then on my turn I'll Spike/FlaLaunBreak/Shredding Vibrator/insert various other kill cards here for less effort. One Tag Along and Ivy is toast. One ToS Ivy is toast. Yi Shan and Ivy is toast. Pokes aren't that good folks

Ivy poke is very good.

When it goes off.

Right now, don't trust the prices on csi. They are just so wild because they think 95% of the ultra rares are chase and price them as such (I got my Launchers for 3 dollars cheaper a pop on ebay. Turtleterror ftw!)

Raging Gnome? very situational. Probably not worth the work.

I'm playing Ivy without any copies of it -_-'

EDIT: i'm also playing Ivy off of Life for all you haters :P

CSI prices are crazy, they are charging $30 for Knight Breaker. Don't get me wrong Knight Breaker is a good card but $30?!?! Sometimes I wonder who the hell these people are that are buying stuff from CSI at these prices.

People with a lot of disposable income.

Yi Shan requires set-up, but stacking 1-3 characters a game is a pretty good average if you're running all you can.

Rising Hilt is better =/

ivey poke is good. but like every one else i think gnome is way over priced.
