I know, somewhere in the star wars galaxy is one of the Y series transports that has the cockpit nestled between the forward prongs of the ship... anyone know what ship it is, and if it's ended up in a EoE or AoR book yet?
Symertrical Y-series Corellian Transport
There's also nothing stopping you from designating a YT-1300 has being symmetrical.
They've shown up at least once in the WEG books (Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters) as an NPC ship that's been heavily modified for extra speed, and Platt O'Keefe's personal TY-1300 has the cockpit on the left side instead of it being on the right the way it is for the Falcon.
Personally, I figure that Corellian Engineering Corporation offers all three cockpit options (port, center, or starboard) as stock designs for the YT-1300 to get as broad a market appeal as possible.
In one of the old Han Solo books, they explain how the YT-1300 was originally a pod hauler. The thing was designed to push large cargo pods through space. This explains why the cockpit is offset and why it has such a high thrust to weight ratio.
While I'm sure this has been retconned away, I still like the idea as it explains why both Luke and Leia immediately though the Falcon was a piece of junk. It would be like someone talking about how fast his car was and it turns out to be an 18-wheeler.
Edited by HedgehobbitThere is also the YT-1760, It's a little small as far cargo capacity goes, but I think its a nice ship.
Not to be completely needy, but I'm working on putting together my New Republic era campaign for the Force and Destiny beta (be prepared and plan ahead... when the frel did I start doing that...), and one of the NPC Jedi Masters has said ship... I figure one of you fne folks may have the knowledge in brain so I don't have to go searching for info that may not exist, and would be nice enough to help. The ship has a slight history in it 1) Dates back to the clone wars and 2) Is large enough and has a large enough consumables stash to keep a family of 3 living and flying through space for as long as possible without having to make planefall. Storyline wise, the ship was used by a Corellian Jedi and his wife and son to escape the Jedi Purge after the clone wars. Also one with a set of floor plans would be awesome? thanks for any help you can offer.
Edited for clarity and more story info.
Edited by KaytarnGo with a YT-1300
Move the cockpit
Convert most of the cargo space to a hydroponics station of sorts
Easy enough to find deck plans for a yt-1300
Fits the era you are looking for
With some hand waving and back story you could keep a ship like that aloft for a really long time with only short stops for fuel and water resupply.
This would be a real easy way to do what you are looking for I think.

In another weg book (the smuggling guide I think) it shows a character in a ship dealer and the vidsceen behind him shows YT-1300s cockpit position is optional. Left, right, or centerline in front of the mandibles.
