I'm worried . . . I can't find my minis.

By Millennium Falsehood, in X-Wing

So please don't accuse me of being a) lazy/unwilling to work, b) a scammer, or c) living off my parent's money without knowing all the details.

As you quoted my post I'm sorry if you took it as me accusing you of any of those things. I'd like to think my comment was directed more at those posters who were going out of their way to accuse you of being any, or all, of those things. Perhaps my comments about S&H are a touch negative but see you may have missed before I posted it way back. I haven't said anything about the people willing to help your situation.

I meant no disrespect by saying "Millenium Falsehood" isn't the most trustworthy of name but in a way the story behind how you picked it actually supports that. While it has a Star Wars ring to it I am not familiar with the source but from the sound of things it was intended to be deceptive/tricky. I mean there are other places where less than honest people actually do go and they sometimes use pretty outlandish names.

If you're not familiar with the source material, you absolutely HAVE to read the X-Wing novels.

Congratulations on hitting your goal bruddah! Sorry about the trolls, why they would even come here and freak out I dunno, probably cause they have been fortunate enough to never need a little help. I totally support the unboxing video, would be fun for everyone. Hopefully you get good engines and reliable guns in the new boats.

Well, I haven't reached it yet. I'm still $20 short. But I appreciate the sentiment. :)

I dunno about a video; I'm a little camera-shy. But I can certainly try. :)

I just want to say, good on the community. Being in a position to help someone who didn't ask for it but help none the less is a great gift. If it is for a good cause, I'd like to think everyone would enjoy a bit charity if they fall on hard times. It is easier in life to look down on someone who needs some help, much harder to put yourself into their shoes and realize not all situations are fair. Easier to judge, then it is to fully understand and how could you ? We all life different lives with different struggles and while some over lap, others are distinctly different.

Point is, everyone could use a little help, when things go sour, and everyone should smile when they see people, perhaps half a world away seek to help someone whom they share nothing in common with, then the love of a game. Good on you all for that.

I have a friend, who lost all his models in a car accident, that he doesn't think he'll be able to get back. My local group is pooling some ships to get him back on his feet. So this post, while not the same situation, is similar.

I'd like to believe should the same happen to me, my friends would help me so, or I could know the support of a kind hearted community, though I hope to never need such.

As well I hope the OP understands what a rare gift such kindness is now a days.

Believe me, I do. As I've said, I didn't even want or expect anyone to actually help me replace the minis I'd lost. I was just going to try my best to rebuild my collection, maybe doing a few things differently . . .

I didn't even want to accept the offers for donations at first. I usually prefer to earn back things I'd lost, because it seemed like I would be taking advantage of kindness, and I don't like taking advantage of anyone, really.

Then someone suggested putting up a donation page. I said to myself, "Y'know, this level of kindness is a rarity. I'll take them up on it, and maybe get enough donations to cover some of the loss." Imagine my surprise when 25% of the amount necessary had been donated by the next day. O.O

I really can't express my gratitude enough. I wish I could hug every one of the people who donated. You all are really great people, and I'm very happy you decided to show me more kindness than I expected. :)

My fear is not so much you scamming the generosity of the community but rather the next guy. I truly feel bad that you have lost your ships.

The next person isn't likely to have quite the same level of credibility. MF had a lot working for him here. It would take a pretty talented scammer to arrange all the pieces so well, and most of the community is smart enough to pick up on the difference.

Agreed.

Indubitably.

Harrumph.

I concur.

Exactly

And if someone were that good at scamming, they wouldn't be doing it here, or doing it for $400 or so.

I am thinking about my picture.... Jar Jar is being his usual self in a landspeeder (as used by Luke & Co in Episode IV) and runs through a red light.... only to be stopped by an AT-AT that crushes the speeder and driver utterly...

Any variation on an AT-AT smiting Jar Jar would be fine.

Han cutting open a tauntaun saying 'I thought they smelled bad on the outside'.. Except it's not a tauntaun, it's Jar Jar...

Jar Jar's head mounted on a plaque in Obi Wans hermitage...

Jar Jar getting eaten by the trash monster

Any I'm missing?

Holy Jar Jar on a speeder bike, Batman!

Jar Jar, Jar of the jungle, dumb as he can be

Jar Jar, Jar of the jungle, watch out for that tree!

What if he exploded... then he exploded again?

Can we have that? Can he explode twice?

:D

Would you like a hole in the windshield and him mangled up against the foot of the walker? ;)

Yes sounds good, the scale doesn't need to be at 1/270 either, Jar Jar can be at 1/59 and the AT-AT at 1/357.... :P

Well folks, I managed to get the money withdrawn from the donation site and the minis ordered! They came in a few days ago, but I was spending the day with a friend and forgot to post any pics of them, but here they are:

Miniature Market didn't have any TIE Interceptors at the time, and the amount that was donated wouldn't have covered them, but I can easily get them later.

Thanks so much to everyone for being so generous! I'm going to start the drawings now. :)

I think everything restocked Interceptors. MM, coolstuffinc, and the local B&N all have them.

Can someone verify?

My local B&N has a ton at their local store here

I am excited for you, I am sorry I was not able to give, but I am excited things worked out.

Thanks. :) I'm just glad people gave at all. I was totally not expecting that, but the people here went beyond my expectations.

Again, thank you to everyone who donated so generously. :)

Hey dude not gonna flood through the pages but where were they lost? What state?
