Transport turning radius?

By Punning Pundit, in X-Wing

My (first) transport will be arriving later today (I hope), and so I've yet to have a chance to play with it. Has anyone who has had a chance to set it on the table know how many turns it will take for the transport to pull a 180? If I understand what I'm hearing about it being limited to 30 degree turns, it would be 6 game-turns for it to turn around. How much lateral distance would it cover in that space?

I'm a bit concerned about actually keeping one of these narwhals on the table in an extended match!

On a 3x3 mat it take 6 turns and almost the full map.

The way it ends up is the 1 turn used 3 times in the same direction will put the rear inside corner of the Transport at a 90 degree angle to the front of the location from which the Transport started, corner to corner. Not great but if you want the whale to just keep spinning at least you have an idea on how tight her radius is...

Well that's not entirely true. It does take 6 turns, however it does not take the entire map to make a 180 (actually more like a 170). The entire turning process takes up a little less than a quarter of a 3x3 surface.

Not entirely true? It's not true at all! Not even "...from a certain point of view".
