X-Wing Tattoo!

By Lunatic Pathos, in X-Wing

Just got this done last night. What do you folks think? I'm pretty pleased with it myself.

Of course, now its scabbing up and so forth. Can't wait till its healed and looking colorful again.

Anyone else have any X-Wing or Star Wars tattoos they want to share?

Looking good! I have been thinking of a x-wing and a tie-fighter tattoo myself lately.

I already have a Boba Fett tattoo on my thigh, so im thinking on building around that.

Yeah, I didn't initially want an Imperial logo anywhere, because, as cool as it is, it means something, too, and I'd prefer to only carry with me iconography I can get behind. However, now that I've got a rugged X-Wing, I kinda want a sleek, predatory Interceptor. They've always been the most fun to fly, ever since Tie Fighter.

Hmm... Maybe we need some Tattoo squad building ideas.

wha?

I have rebel symbol on my shoulder blade. Have always been a rebel fan since first watching the films...

Until playing x-wing and now almost exclusively play Imperials, how does that work exactly?? Only time I played rebels was because I was fed up of being target locked and watching the rerolls count. With imp aces that solves that one for me!

Where did you get it done, Tatooine?

Dantooine, it was on Dantooine... :)

That was humour - I think building a squad to tattoo on yourself is not a good idea.

I'm not showing you the TIE Interceptors I have on either butt cheek.

Groan  Baboom...tish!

I have one on my chest I got about 2 months ago. A blending of the Rebel/Imperial insignia. I would post, but my ineptitude is preventing me from doing so! I used the forum help, and it says to post images to a gallery that is accessible from the top of the page... can't seem to find it!

BTW - OP: Great tattoo!!

Nice. Was pondering getting myself a rebel symbol as well. The x wing and view of space add to it nicely.

I have this argument with my friends all the time. They are die hard imperials and get irritated when i point out that they have tatts and decals that are essentially space swastikas. Would never put that on my body.

So... I'm not quite sure what is being stated here. Are you saying that you wouldn't get a tattoo of the Imperial insignia because the Empire is mean?

That's what it sounds like, and no offense, but it sounds ridiculous to me.

You might as well say that anyone who cosplays as an Imperial at any comic con is a space nazi.

Whether you have in Imperial tattoo, a Rebel tattoo, cosplay as the Emperor or Luke, you did it because you think it looks cool and stands for an awesome fictional universe. Not because you are morally attached to their ideals.

Correct me if I'm wrong and reading this incorrectly.

Been wanting to get a boba fett tat for a very long time.

My wife hates them though, so I only have one lol

Very nice.

Did you come up with that design yourself?

Oh god.

I have to say first that I love ink, I grew up around ink, I draw concept pieces for others to have put permanently on their bodies; However ,

I would take your artist out and have them flogged, quartered and chopped up for chum.

The engines are off perspective, they show head on when the rest of the ship is facing to the left(right in the photo). This artist is good that Rebel logo is very nice. But the technical work and perspective on the ship... sorry, the ship looks awful.

...now you have to live with that on your arm for the rest of your life. O.o

Cutie Mark confirmed.

That ink is dope as hell.

I'm saving up to get Chewie with his crossbow.

And the super nerd inside me has to scream "it's not a crossbow!" sorry, just had to get that out lol

It means post to imgur or something and then use the link here.

No, we do mean we are morally attached to their ideals. There's a difference between cosplaying and a tattoo. I would totally cosplay or act as an Imperial because its fun. But I wouldn't want an Imperial tattoo for the reason this guy quotes. Obviously cosplaying as an actual Nazi would probably be in bad taste, but Imperials are fictional, so its more in jest, but a tattoo is maybe just a bridge too far for me. Not saying it means that for anyone else or that you shouldn't do it. I wouldn't assume that means you agree with Imperial dogma.

I did notice a few of the minor problems after the fact, while its been healing. But I feel like they're kinda minor. Most people don't notice and think its rad. I probably will go back and see if he can touch it up at all. He offered to do so for free.

I did indeed.

To further explain on the perspective issue, I agree the engines are a little off, but not very. I asked for a single point cyclopic type of perspective like you'd see in a film image if the camera were close to the subject, and I think he delivered well for the laser cannon and nose. Its really just the front of the engines that aren't properly ellipsoidal imo.

I love the tat, though I must agree the x-wing is a little off. Im a space craft nut so I will admit that Im more picky than most and doubt most people would notice.

As for getting an imperial logo I can't see how anyone could have a problem with it.

It's FICTION

I've actually considered going to SDCC dressed up as a WW2 Wehrmacht soldier. If anybody asks me why I'm dressed like that, I'll tell them that I was told storm troopers are a safe and popular cosplay choice.

It's FICTION

Fiction is a form of art. The meaning of art is to evoke emotion. The actions of The Empire evoke emotions and reactions such as being repulsed, abhorred. What they'd done in their history resonates with us and recalls WWII imagery as George Lucas intended.

Some of us are more sensitive to this concept to others. These people, such as myself, are hit harder by fiction, as they make us feel something.

So for people like us, to wear The Imperial Insignia is to say, "I am not only a xenophobe, but will absolutely willingly serve a power greater than I with no question, no matter what they ask me to do, even if that is burning a village."

Some of us do not want to be associated with the visage of totalitarianism and genocide.

That is why some of us, opt to not wear the insignia.
