Ok guys, so does R5-P9s ability only allow you to regen one shield for a focus token per round or can you regen muliple shields (up to your limit) per focus tokens spent each round?
R5-P9
One per round.
The card is pretty straight forward. You MAY spend 1 of your focus tokens to regain 1 shield. Not sure where there's confusion about spending multiple tokens...
In the OP's defense, I think that he or she might be wondering if the card is stating a simple 1:1 ratio.
However, I agree; the card is stating that you may spend 1 and only 1 focus token, no more.
FAQ addresses this sort of issue. Only one time per activation.
Thanks for the heads up. Straight forward or not sometimes a cards text is hard to understand. For example Garvin's ability was hard to get used to. That's all. Thanks again.
Sorry, I would have elaborated more if there were more questions. ![]()
But yeah, as was stated, it falls under the FAQ entry about game effects only happening once per activation. And the way it is worded, "you may spend one of your focus tokens to regain one of your shields," there is nothing to indicate that you are allowed to spend any more than a single focus per turn.
It should probably say "Once per turn, at the end of the Combat phase..." but they seem to still be working to generate consistency in wording at times. ![]()
Thanks again for the help.
Sorry to post on a such an old threat - but I got burned on this at a store tournament this weekend. The winner (and TO) claimed it was ok to recover multiple shields on Poe with R5-P9.
And was there an assistant TO? Because he was wrong, and any time I hear of a TO making a bad ruling AND competing (let alone winning the tournament), alarm bells start to sound.

Once per opportunity.
If Poe has more than one Focus token, he can only spend one to regenerate a shield at end of round.
If Poe is regenerating multiple shields over multiple rounds, that's fine.

Then he shouldn't be a TO anymore if he fails to grasp the simplest of rules...

Agreed. I'm wondering if he was the one flying Poe. Because if he was, then the stink just got worse.
The guy was forced into the role of TO when the original TO wasn't able to make it. I don't think he did it maliciously, but how can one know? I did challenge him on the rule, but again he was TO and it was my first tournament, so my voice didn't carry much weight. Not sure there really was an assistant TO.

That is just the reality of things some times. You basicaly got a choise of runing with a crapy TO (crapy in the role as TO, he might be a deligtfull person in every other aspect) or not having a tournament at all.
When I arrived at the location I was just there to play the tournament. I was asked to run the tournament from the store since they had no one there to actually run it. Out of the group of players there I probably had the most play time, but I don't know everything in the FAQ since I don't TO X-wing events. That was my first time being a TO for it. Now when I came up with my build, I did not know that Poe couldn't recover more than one per turn, I thought it was a 1:1 ratio, not once per period. And If i recall I was only able to recover 2 shields once in all 4 games that were played, and apparently against radon. So I'm sorry for not knowing that was the case.

The good news is now you have learned a bit more and can do an even better jobb if you are asked to TO an event again ![]()
You did a great job running the event on short notice Redleader19! Thanks for doing so. I don't think the above ruling would have really changed the outcome of our game, so no big deal. Just trying to learn for next time.

Hey, we all get things wrong from time to time. Chalk it up to a learning experience.
