Rebel Aces is being printed

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

I'll buy that. 'You must do what you feel is right'

But each person should have some freedom to spend on what they want unless times are particularly hard.

Lets see in that cartoon we have...5 Core sets4 Firespray's2 or 3 Interceptors4 Y-Wings5 A-Wings2 Tie Advanced3 YT-1300's1 extra X-Wing2 extra Tie Fighters.Which retail would cost around $665. I don't know about anyone else, but if I dropped nearly $700 in one afternoon, that would go a bit beyond freedom to spend what they want...

Very true. But we're talking about the guy who bought an extra Transport

I'd rather sooner/quicker than later/slower. Even if you cant get it all at once, at least you can get it.

The wait form seeing the Imperial Aces cards to actually getting them seemed like age!

But we're talking about the guy who bought an extra Transport

And we have no way of knowing how much expendable cash he and his family has. Maybe for them a 2nd transport is a major part of their budget.

It's not really polite for us to make those kinds of judgements.

I mean I get the point you're making Aminar, but I just don't think this is the place to discuss this, and there's really no place we should discuss the relationship of someone we don't even really know.

I didn't comment on his relationship. Only that it would bother me. In my situation. It isn't a knock against him. Or me saying he should end his marriage or anything. Just that a situation many people have to deal with would bother me. It was a pretty simple comment. I bet it would bother most of us.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to drop a drama bomb on the thread.

Coming soon to a local gaming store near you: Marriage Aces. No collection would be complete without the Manchild Husband or the Harridan Wife. Pre-order yours today!

I'm going to start a ship rental program. You get all the joys of having the ships at your disposal, but without the permanent storage issues or the spouse asking where they all came from. For a low price of $16.00 per ship/per day, I'll let you use mine when you want, where you want.

So, yeah...rebel aces are at the printer...

This bears repeating...

Oh look! FFG leaked the soon to be released 1/270 scale Death Star II via this web comic! Shut up and take my money already!

Soooo, big? The actual dome or the miniatures dome?

I've been married for almost 18 years (it will be 18 on May the 4th, but that's just a coincidence).

My wife so far hasn't minded that I've been spending money on this game.. so far.

The person who DOES mind is my best friend's wife. For whatever reason, when I buy a new ship, he buys a new ship. It's like nuclear escalation between us. It's not intentional on my part (well not reaaally..)

Anyways, every time I buy something new she jokes that I have to stop.. Problem is I know that somewhere in that joke she kind of means it.

So, I've taken to hiding new purchases until I hear that he has bought something on his own, then I drop the proverbial bomb on him..

All I have to say is that I'm glad Wave 4 is a little while out yet. Their pocketbook is going to be screaming for mercy trying to keep up with what I've already pre-ordered.. :P

I've been saving up since Christmas for Epic ships and Wave 4... As of the 16th I'll have enough put away for wave 4, already paid for the Epic ships.

But if they keep pumping stuff out at this speed I'm going to have trouble keeping up.

Yeah, I hear ya. I placed my order for Aces well after it was shipping, and got it in a reasonable amount of time. When I saw that the Transport was "On The Boat", I thought I had plenty of time for the pre-order before it got here. Much to my surprise it went from On the Boat to shipping inside of 2 weeks.. I thought I had 8.

I may have to pare back my Wave 4 pre-order, and just get 1 or 2 of each, and then get the rest when I can one at a time..

I think that caught everyone by surprise. Then the CR-90 went on the boat pretty quick after the Transport. Which made me happy, I placed a preorder for both at MM to get free shipping. But that means I don't get either until I get both.

Every day that the Transport was closer to getting to us, made it just that more tempting to buy 1 and end up with 2, rather then wait.

But the CR-90 should be here soonish, so I'm good. Who knows maybe it will only take 2-3 weeks for that to get here. It's got bigger engines and all so...

And at Gencon they'll spoil the huge imperial ships, if they don't do it at a May the 4th event.

I'm going to bet against a Huge Imperial ship. I don't think FFG wants this game to be about Huge ships blasting it out. This is a small fighter dogfighting game. I think the Huge ships only on one side of the table keeps the focus where it belongs.

That being said, the Empire will get their own Epic/Cinematic addition to the game. Question is "what?" I still think a Death Star play set is a good bet. Maybe this is why the tiles were pulled from production.

Umm, FFG does love their alternate formats. I doubt the Imperials will be left hanging for too long.

And as their best selling game ever, I'm sure they're going keep developing things...

Five releases in five months is however potentially a bit much.

too much is never enough!!

too much is never enough!!

Until you look at the mess that Warhammer 40k is in due to the rapid release of codices, supplements and data slates. That was one of the factors that caused me to stop playing the game late last year was the cost of keeping up to date with all of the rules left me no cash for buying any figurines.

A release every second month would be a fairly good rate with enough new content coming out to keep veterans interested without making it overwhelmingly difficult for new players to get up to speed.

I don't think it's the quantity of rules they are putting out that is the problem, it is the price of those rules, and that they are doing it in a very scattershot manner, without much organization or anything. If they would organize their releases better, and charge a reasonable amount for them (especially the electronic versions), then I don't think the volume would be a problem at all.

It's a good thing my wife loves B-Wings.

And she's got her money, I've got mine and we've got ours. As long as we can both put our share in the mutual account for the monthly groceries we'll only say something about the other's spending if we think we're forgetting about future spending such as new cars or stuff. Just as a reminder.

Though the current release schedule is a bit insane.

Keep collecting man. Once you have rogue squadron complete, the girls will start to notice.

I wish I had a girlfriend

GW over-complicates their game system by adding tons new rules in every army book/codex. Star Wars is nowhere near as complex and even in these last couple of months of quick releases, it's only a handful of new cards each release.

That said, as someone who got into it late last year, I would have liked a bit slower release, but I wonder if we won't see more of a delay after Wave 4 as they haven't announced anything new in some time and a lot of the stuff that's in the pipeline soon was long in coming. Rebel aces is a bit of an exception to that as that seems like a quick turnaround.
