How much longer for more Imperial Aces?

By Explosive Ewok, in X-Wing

The Imperial Aces pack was released, what, a month ago? I'm not exactly sure when but at this point it feels like forever ago. Every store in my area, and I'm guessing yours too, received the initial shipment that was used for preorders and since then, nothing.

I get that FFG isn't exactly the biggest company, and the whole epic ships thing probably is a major contributor to the slowing down of production on most other things, but **** I'm getting tired of waiting for my local store to get some more Aces!

And before you click reply, ready to throw MM and the like in my face, my frustration lies in the fact that I have store credit at my local place. And while an extra pair of B-Wings would be great and all I would rather spend it on ships and cards I don't already have.

So seriously, how much longer until we get more Imperial Aces shipped to stores? I'm hoping someone with some inside info SOMEWHERE can give an answer, because the voice on the phone at my local place can never give me a straight answer.

My store was able to get more about a month after release. So, I think the next wave (aka boat) is out there. Of course, your store may be using a different distributor than mine.

Does your local store know that you're looking for Imperial Aces specifically? It probably won't help to tell them, but it's really the only thing you can do.

It's usually a few months before these things get "reprinted" and back into stores, but FFG might be getting faster about it since the last time there was a general shortage.

Where are you located, if you don't mine me asking. Pure curiosity.

Yeah they have my name on a list and such. I placed the order so long ago I completely forgot that I had ordered a B-Wing and a TIE Bomber just prior, and in the time I was waiting I ended up getting those from other places. They called me about the B and TIE and that's when I questioned them again on the Aces, still with no real answer.

I think most places will at least attempt to contact distributors if a customer asks specifically for something. It is a guaranteed sale after all.

In fact I think the owner of the store I occasionally go to has a policy to never stock any non-base game ffg products unless he gets requests since they put out so many expansions in general. I can tell you there are certainly a decent number floating around though. My Barnes and Noble had at least three or four boxes when I was in there earlier this week.

Edit: Ninjaed it seems. That is somewhat odd. When the store credit can always go to something else shiny and you can search elsewhere for aces maybe?

IIRC, when I talked to them they told me they aren't even able to order it because the item isn't even available to reorder in their computer system. I assume because it's attached to some warehouse which is out because they themselves are waiting for the reprint from FFG.

My sister-in-law is visiting from Utah. Maybe she should stop by the store here and bring a set or two back for you. ;)

I pre ordered my two copies from the US and they took 6 weeks to arrive. In that time, one of the local stores in my area has stocked up and sold out again about three times so far. Not all areas have distribution issues. Contact the store and see if they are getting them in but selling out fast and you can probably have them set one aside for you, especially if you pay in advance.

That would be fantastic, my good sir!

FWIW, our FLGS still has them on the shelf. The problem is not with FFG. Seriously, if your store knows you have store credit, why would they go out of their way to get a product that they know they won't make money on? Especially since you apparently welched on another order you made with them. Or am I reading your posts wrong?

One would assume they would order it for him for the sake of customer service.

Some distributors have bigger issues getting items in stock then others. All the local stores around here use one in particular that seems to have trouble keeping FFG products in stock.

For a product as difficult to reprint as X-Wing, I've take to a "get it when I can where I can" attitude. I much prefer to patron the local stores, but I just nabbed my Rebel Transport at Barnes and Noble after not getting a good answer on arrival from the locals. I'd advise nabbing the Aces where you can, in the interim, and use the store credit on other products as they come in.

I'm going to have to go with your store is the issue. I ordered and recieved my set from MM in four days. MM is now the only place I get this game's bits from.

I'm still waiting for my store to get B-Wings back in stock...

I went to Barnes and Noble on a whim yesterday to see if they had the transport (they didn't) and saw two Imperial Aces boxes. I knew I wouldn't have many more chances to get it so I pulled the trigger. It's true MM is cheaper but when you see it in front of you in person it's hard to resist.

And on a product like this, it doesn't end up being much cheaper, with shipping.

That's my experience.

I've ordered some stuff from CoolStuffInc, and while I got to choose exactly what I wanted, in the end it only ended up saving me $10 off MSRP. And since I went for the cheapest shipping in order to maximize savings, I would have gladly spent that extra $10 just so I wouldn't have to wait any longer because it seems to take forever to arrive.

Besides my FLGS generally sells stuff at far less cost than MSRP, the problem however is that online stores have everything in stock while the local places don't.

Well all of this has made me view my LGS poorly, sad to say. I don't know what's really going on, but at this point it almost doesn't matter.

While I'd rather believe it's an ordering issue with my area, this store has frustrated me a handful of times in the past already. Might be time to throw in the towel and just use the credit on whatever and take my cash elsewhere.

Yea, I frequent several (three) LGS' in my area and they all have multiple copies lying around these days. Amazon Prime told me they would take your business also ;) .

My local barns and nobles has everything in stock.

I can tell you I have ordered from amazon, min market both have been great no problems. I would tell you also the barns and noble website has them if your ordering.

I've seen two sets for sal in the Fox Valley in the past week or so. At barnes and Noble and a game store in Appleton. So my area doesn't appear shorted.

I grew up in a small business family so it pains me to say this. I have really tried to purchase everything through my FLGS, but they never have anything in stock. Ever. I have given up.

I walk into Barnes and Noble and they have everything. 2-3 boxes of aces, TIEs, Core, Falcon, Firespray, B-wings, Transport, etc.

My FLGS blames FFG but I dunno.

FFG isn't as massive a game company as people think and the miniatures are a two step process (manufacturing and painting), so it's not exactly a quick process. I wonder if it's easier for them to distribute a large quantity to a nationwide store like Barnes and Noble (and that's why they have a larger stock).

I live in the Twin Cities so I don't have a proper perspective on the scarcity (Aces and Transports are available at my local game store and FFG Event Center has them), but it's not surprising considering the size and limitations of FFG at this time.
