Deathwatch via skype/roll20, need a replacement.

By Annaamarth, in Deathwatch

So, I joined a skype-based DW game, originally advertised in this thread- and for all three potential sessions, my work schedule has affected or completely interrupted my ability to join the game. This has resulted in one late game and one canceled game, and is about to result in another game where they are without me. In a four-man group, that's a significant loss of team power- especially since we currently have an assault marine, an apothecary, and a tactical marine other than me- that's not a lot of ranged power.

This is not fair to the rest of the group, so I'm now trying to find someone to take my place. I would rather someone just take over my character as-is, as this would be simplest for the group- but if the only people interested aren't interested in the existing character, then I suspect the group would be willing to be flexible.

The game is fairly heavily houseruled- requisition and normal gear as typical have been completely overhauled- I've nicknamed the game "Deathwatch: Borderlands Edition."

I'm running a Devastator Black Shield with a lower-than-average RoF heavy bolter- that is silenced, and may-or-may-not have an absurdly high pen value. I'm not sure, it was just issued to me as-is, and I don't exactly know how it functions. Anyway, it contributes well to a sniper role, and my skills and attributes are well focused toward stealth. I have a little bit of xp to spend at the moment, so that could go whereever.

The game thus far: in an unusual mission, the killteam was tasked to act as a bodyguard /honour guard for an Ordo Malleus inquisitor. When we met his vessel, he already had an honour guard of Grey Knights, who seemed very upset that a bunch of Deathwatch marines were going to be watching over one of "their" inquisitors. When we were confronted by them, I... may have insinuated that their concern for honour was at the expense of duty. When one of them threatened me, I neither raised my weapon nor gave way- actually, I was eager to see whether he was willing to attack a DW marine in a DW hangar bay with a Nemesis weapon over a point of pride.

He backed down.

So we boarded the vessel, and were never really briefed (as I recall) on what the Inquisitor was up to. The vessel landed dirtside on a standard Imperial world, and there was no honour guard to greet the ship- since the Inquisitor was acting openly, I suspected ambush and I told him to get out of the airlock and away from the boarding ramp- just in time for him to be headshot (nonfatally) and fall down the ramp.

Cue combat. The apothecary grabbed the Inq and dragged him onto the vessel while the rest of us fought off a bunch of human assassins. I voxed the Grey Knights for support and got an acknowledgement back, but no apparent action after a few rounds. This caused me to vox the Apothecary still aboard the landing craft (with the Knights) to "'Ware betrayal."

In the meantime, the Tac marine, the assault marine and I proceeded to butcher the assassins. With vigour. They were mortals armed with las-weapons- no big deal.

This is when the Predator sporting obvious renegade markings showed up. I popped smoke grenades in front of it, charged it and dove under while the others outside kept it distracted, just as the Apothecary (with Inq) was joined by the not-entirely-trusted Grey Knights.

Session end. I may be missing a few details- not positive.

Anyway, if you're interested in playing a mostly quiet, but implacable, Black Shield Devastator and/or you like the sound of Deathwatch: Borderlands Edition, let me know!

Oh right. It takes place at 0700PST/1000EST/1400GMT, on saturday, unless Roll20 is currently lying to me.
