Blood of gondor strategy

By 7theye, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi all

Was struggling two player with blood of gondor using mono lore and mono tactics.

Decided to try mono tactics and the other deck was spirit and leadership

It's beregond/leoglas/beorn and aaragorn/glorfibdel/Frodo

We tried and interesting strategy. Using beorn to tank enemies we tried to kill the black numenorian on the first round. Ended up smashing this quest when you do that as hidden cards don't matter as much and your threat doesn't keep going up. Take the extra hidden card first round, engage the enemies and kill him and then quest for the win. We beat the quest in 3 rounds and went 5/5 against it

For those that are struggling try this approach.

Its a super unique quest. The Black Numenorian is one of the oddest encounter cards released yet. He's kinda pointless when I play.

It's an odd quest for sure. The siege at the beggining is really awkward without Asfaloth but then it gets better. It basically needs combat capabilities to be beaten.

I was successful with this mono tactics eagles deck. I questing through siege, so The Cross-roads location must stay in staging area for all time, even during 2nd quest stage.

Strategy:
- Weapons are very important (Bofur)
- Blade of Gondolin is for Boromir and then he is able to kill most of orcs
- With Rivendell Blade on Legolas I always try to kill Black NĂºmenorean in first round, or Legolas+Boromir+Faramir, or Legolas+Black Arrow+Hands upon the Bow
- I am trying to questing only with allies (in first round I focus on Black Numenorean)
- via weapons I can draw cards (Foe-hammer), or kill some orcs (Goblin-cleaver)
- to defend an enemy I use Gondorian Shield on Beregond and Boromir, Behind Strong Walls, Feint
- is good keep in play cheap ally to feed Orc Ambusher
- big problem is my high threat (Gandalf only will help, maybe Secret Vigil solving this)
- I think try Mablung instead Beregond (less defense, but more resources)

The percentage of success was 86% with Beregond, and 73% with Mablung. Games played was about 30 for each hero.
