This may be a very stupid question, but I still have some doubts about it so I'm gonna ask you all.

Imperial Aces rulesheet says that the Sync Action requires the facility to be within Range 1 from the prototype, but it doesn't explicitly say one thing: is the effect permanent?

I assume it is, given the phrase "and its effect is no longer active" in the Destroying Facilities section...

I don't have the rulesheet in front of me, but I believe the effect lasts until the facility is destroyed by the rebel player, regardless of range to the prototype. At least, that's how I played it.

No. Once the effect is activated (by being in range 1 of the Facility and using the Sync Action) it remains in effect until either the Facility or the Prototype itself is destroyed. Range has nothing to do with it after activation. Sideslip answered your question fully and correctly.
