Historically Accurate X-Wing Squadrons Sheet

By VGADisciple, in X-Wing

For those that like to play historically accurate (according to the Star Wars universe of course) squadrons in X-Wing, I have created a .pdf file that list numerous squadrons, broken down by Alliance, then by Ship Type.

Pilots in red lettering means there is a Unique Pilot Card available. Green lettering means there is a Generic Pilot card available for that particular squadron so you can fill in the unmade unique pilots to complete the squadron. The pilots in black lettering means there is not a unique, nor a generic pilot card (yet) for that particular squadron.

Some squadrons on this list are complete, some are not. Some information just isn't available.

This sheet will be updated on a regular basis as each wave of ships is announced and/or released.

Here is the link to the .pdf file.

Thank you!! This is going to be very useful to me!

Glad I could help.

Sexy, many thanks.

Kudos!

Thanks. Glad to help. I'll keep it updated as new product comes out. I enjoy building squads from the movies, and I know other players do to, so thought it would be cool to have a quick reference sheet to make it easy.

Now I just want to use this for our epic game this Saturday... Huge thanks for this. I love trying to be ' canon ' when it comes to list making

VAGADisciple,

Thank you, that was very useful, as I, too like to play "historical" squadrons in casual games (more competitive games, as well, I suppose... its one of my weaknesses).

One thing I found curious is this...

Scimitar Squadron:
• Scimitar 1 - Captain Jonus
• Scimitar 2 - Major Rhymer
Usually, a Group/Squadron/Flight/whatever is commanded by the highest ranking member of that group and is usually allotted the lowest ID number in the group (typically '1' or sometimes '0'). So, I find it curious that "Scimitar-2" is piloted by Major Rhymer. In most military rank structures, a Major out ranks a Captain (unless we are talking Naval ranks but then, there are no "Majors" in Naval ranks), so it seems strange to me that Captain Jonus is designated "Scimitar-1" .
Any idea why this is?
Are leadership positions in the Imperial military granted based on experience over actual rank? This has happened in other militaries from time to time and very situational but in the forces of the Empire, it seems to me that rank or political position trump all.
Anyone have an answer to this?
Chris

Probably a mix-up : wookiepedia lists Major Rhymer as Scimitar 1 and Captain Jonus as Scimitar 2.

Yes, I believe it is a mix up. Thanks for pointing it out. I will fix the error, and re-upload the document some time this week. I apologize for the typo.

I, too, enjoy playing canon-accurate squadrons. It takes some high points to do it, but if you have a weekend day to have some fun, it's awesome.

I appreciate this very much.

I made a thread over on BGG that had the pilot cards and their SW:CCG counterparts. However, I haven't updated it since wave 3. Unfortunately, there is not much overlap between the two games anymore. There a few pilots (Hobbie, Kanos, Horn) but not their matching ships and ships (Onyx & Tala sqdrn) but not the pilots. Not sure if I want to necro the thread just for Porkins. :)

The thread is really old now but it's fun to look at if you played the old CCG.

Anyway, I won't clog up your thread with pictures. Here's the link if anybody is interested.

Thank you for the link. This may help me out some on my research for squads and such.

No problem. There may be some more information on squadrons in the fluff text on the ship cards. When I get some time I'll look them over and check them against your pdf.

Hey, cool! I have a suggestion: what about pairing astromech droids with their respective pilots? (Luke with R2-D2, Porkins with R5-D4, etc.)

That is a good idea. I could add that info. Thank you for the suggestion!
