Heh, according to this post http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/82153-question-for-those-who-won-a-2013-regional-championship/page-3 there were only 4 people at last year's Utah regionals. I didn't start getting into the tournament scene until this year, so I don't know what last year's was like, but the Store Championships I went to this year were all more than 16 players each, with only a handful of cross-overs (i.e. same players going to different championships). I can only imagine had Regionals been here, it would have had at least as many as a store championship had, and probably more (since there'd only be one to go to instead of multiples).
The tournament scene has been picking up steam...

I completely agree with this.
The only reason I didn't make it to Boise was cash. $100 in Gas, $150 in (cheapest) hotel, food, then all of that with a one-year old, on top of an absolutely ridiculous $20 entry fee? C'mon.
Had it been held here I would have gladly participated, despite the $20 joke.
Here is the rest of the Boise Idaho store. Not sure how this will format.
Wow that's a lot of Falcons in Idaho.
Surprised to see the all interceptors do so well.

I'm not counting #7 and #8 for stats, but recorded the text here. Maybe #7 also had Veteran Instincts as well?
Also: I found a page for the Oslo tournament, but no results. Does anyone speak Norwegian and want to ask?

They probably all speak English. Just ask them in your native tongue.

Logan Rourke, with the interceptor list has Howlrunner listed as an interceptor. Not sure it will matter but it would be awesome if she could be placed in one!

Ha - I actually didn't notice that. I recorded it as a TIE Fighter.

I figured it would be an auto correction for you but I found it funny.
Wave 4 has arrived! There are 2 or 3 Regional events this weekend:
I'm not sure about the Frankfurt Regional, I couldn't find any information on their website, but I emailed them along with the other 2 anyway.
A coupe people have PM'ed me if I will be separating results starting this weekend now that wave 4 has been released. The answer is yes! Presumably wave 4 will be legal everywhere starting week 9, but in case it is not, I will be tracking wave 4 legality on a per-tournament basis. The statistics breakdown will be in this form:
I am tracking the data in an Excel spreadsheet and uploading it periodically. The filesize is ~40MB, and can be download here:

Weighted Averaging
For the statistics below, I am counting all reported squads that made the Final Cut, OR made it into the Top Third numerically. Everything is based on the number of points spent, and I use a weighted average of:
squad weighting = (event attendance) / (squad placement)
I will be adding different weighting options to the Excel file shortly, as well as filters for wave 3 / 4 / all tournaments. At this point, If you wish to view the results in a different weighting, you can download the Excel file.

Currently tracking. Results for the Mesa AZ Regionals. We have fifty players even with six Store Champion byes. Currently in the fourth round of six. Z-95s are the most typical Wave 4 ships at the top tables, Phantoms are making a mixed showing, with one or two in the mix towards the top. We're doing six rounds of sixty minute swiss but making sure people have all sixty to play (no time of that 60 is setup). Will then cut to top eight. Should be over around midnight (started at 10:30).
I think Z-95s are the 'obvious' new ship to try, but that the others will catch on. That's a long day of dog fighting.
Thanks for the updates. Top Third of 50 is 16, so #9 - #16 would be good to get too. Since we have "boots on the ground", and this is the first wave 4 Regional (reported), it would be great to get top 16.
Will do. We're at top eight now. Top squads include two twin falcons, a whisper + Howlrunner w/mini-swarm squad, dual sprays with Soontir, two XXBB with Biggs, a Biggs XBBB, and a Chewie w/two Blues.
Sorry, one of those XXBB's is actually an XBBZ
Exhausted so will post full top sixteen and other info from the day Sunday sometime. I do want to post top two now just to recognize their amazing games.
1st place: Michael Evans (Whisper w/Intelligence Agent, Veteran Instincts, Fire Control Systems, and Advanced Cloaking Device; Howlrunner w/Hull Upgrade, Academy Pilot x3 (97pts))
2nd place: Trenden Flanigan (Chewbacca, Lando w/Expert Handling, Bandit Squadron Pilot)

Good to see that the Phantom hasn't warped the format... yet.
We need the Phantom to blow up the meta, X-Wing should be about moving and dogfighting instead of jousting. Glad to see a Phantom in the top slot at regionals.
Everyone take notice of first and second in AZ. Whisper + mini swarm beat a dual falcon list. The Phantom list beat another list that should have been a hard counter to it. Phantom are VERY difficult to kill.

Let's not crowd the regionals report with doom and gloom. MajorJuggler has done a tremendous job tracking down this info for us. Once the Top 16 of Arizona is posted, we can start a new thread to talk about the new Meta.

Personally, I'm more bothered that a dual falcon list got second place.
It's tough to say without seeing the actual lists. Whisper is the best one for taking on Falcons, with the extra Focus tokens for defense. And if the Falcons where Chewie and Lando, then yeah, that might be a bit rough. Han taking the initiative is what would cause major issues for Whisper. Otherwise, it would be an interesting fight.
