While they may listen, it will all come down to what happens at the box office in the form of dollars. If enough people refuse to buy tickets due to XYZ, then they will change things. Until then...

Men and women are different...deal with it!
Do I think Star Wars is sexist or racist? No.
Why? Because though the leading roles of women and blacks are few, they're good roles and not stupid stereotypes that would be sexist/racist. Already made a long comment on that earlier.
Do I think Star Wars should have more women and blacks? 50/50.
I can see the argument that little children wanting to dress up will be limited if they're girls or black. Girl is Padme or Leia and boy is Windu or Lando. Poor black girls get nobody unless they paint themselves green like Aayla Secura. So that is something I can support and get behind.
On the other side of the coin is where they throw script out of the window and cram in as many women and blacks as they can just to keep "everyone" happy. Is that not reverse sexism/racism? Oh the poor minorities we should have more because the poor, poor minorities whereas white people are more reasonable and don't care how many whites are in movies.
Outrageous! Just typing that made me want to punch myself but that is the mentality of some.
No matter what is done. There will always be some who complain. I might return when we reach page 1,598,289 because this is a topic that can go round and round and get nowhere.

Absolutely. That's why Johnny Storm is being cast with an African-American actor. It is all about the money. They want to draw in a certain demographic. People can whine all they want about deviating from the original, Studios want money. No money means no movies.. So they will continue to try to cater to as many demographics as possible.

The "tokenism" argument was handled in a previous post. Feel free to scroll back, find it, and read it.

I did read it. I was being thorough in what I said without typing an entire essay. You have only quoted one side of the coin, and not even the full side.
Often when I post a comment I show that I recognize two or more, sometimes contradictory, arguments. It's called being fair.

Do you have a specific point you would like for me to address?
Do you have a specific point you would like for me to address?
1. Never assume people don't read earlier posts. As you may know, sometimes my opinion matches the opinion of someone else. Does that mean, since somebody else said it, that I should just shut up and not say anything? OK, I could have scrolled back, found it and quoted it as part of my comment but do I always have to do that? Can I not express myself without the aid of others?
2. I did in fact tear down "the other side of the coin" because it can in lead to reverse sexism/racism. Even going so far as to admit that typing it made me want to punch myself since it is something I feel is very rude and demeaning but unfortunately happens.
Can I not express myself without the aid of others?
I presume you are free to express yourself however you see fit just as I am free to respond however I see fit.

Visiting discrimination against a privileged class is no way to exact justice for past discrimination against a disadvantaged class.
That's a pretty agreeable argument to me. I don't know why anyone, other than one malignly bent on some sort of misplaced notion of revenge, would say otherwise. So, on that point, count me as someone who agrees with you on that point.
However, arguing for equality is not the same as arguing to tear someone else down. I'll say it again: Inclusivity is not a zero sum game.

Dude. It's just an internet forum.

Well clearly what I said came out wrong.
No arguing to tear someone down. If it came out like that I've made a blunder and can only apologize. Also thank you for pointing it out. This sort of conversation is one I usually walk away from, since it never seems to reach a unanimous accord.
What I will say in conclusion is that I honestly believe that both Star Wars and Star Trek contributed largely to me being not only interested in, but actively curious about other races and cultures. Anything different I want to know about and I hope one day to travel the world to learn...everything humanly possible about every nationality. Return home, wherever I choose home to be, with suitcases filled with different clothing, recipes and anything else of interest. For me, visiting another country is the closest I can get in my lifetime to visiting new worlds and civilizations.

So how do you intend to cast a lead who equally represents all gender identities, racial and cultural backgrounds, religions, ages, classes and political beliefs?

How do I ? Are you making me a casting director?
A lead? When did you get the belief that a single person could somehow encompass all gender identities, racial and cultural backgrounds, religions, ages, classes and political beliefs?
