Toying around with a list idea and I wanted to see what you guys thought:

Garven Dreis (26)

Hobbie Kilvan + R2D6 + Opportunist (30)

2x Rookies (42)

This leaves me with 2 points and not a lot to spend it on - at this point I really only have astromech slots I can fill. I'm guessing it'll be 2 R2 astromechs to get some more green maneuvers, but is there anything that might be better? Maybe there is something else coming up soon that would work?

With this list I really just need to keep Hobbie and Garven together, and try and use the rookies low PS to deny actions. Hobbie moves in and TLs, Garven comes in and focuses. Garven fires before Hobbie hopefully getting the defender to use an evade/focus, passes his focus off to Hobbie. Hopefully Hobbie can trigger opportunist, spend his TL and focus with 4+ dice, removing the stress he got from opportunist.

Could do R2s on the Rookies to get rid of stress easier, and keep them the same.

Garvin will be a prime target. After he goes Opportunist losses a lot of luster.

I don't know, he's only handing off a Focus. Opportunist is still useful without Wes or something to strip the token. Garvin is not a key component to the list, he's just a nice part without being too critical to lose (and you will lose him at some point). Hobbie is still shooting before any PS4 pilots, and will be able to use Opportunist even after Garvin is gone. Assuming he's target locking, he's going to pretty much use it for free too. You still have 4 X-Wings to start with, which are all decent on their own. You can even block a bit with the rookies.

I'm gonna give it a try with the R2s on the rookies.. I think this is an interesting concept.

What would happen if you were to change the rooks to green squadrons with 6 pts for epts?

They'd be a bit more maneuvrable to block, drop outmaneuver on them to get a bit more advantage or VI to help them strip before hobbie comes in?

The ships are a tad weaker, and it's not a 4X list, I know, but just throwing it out there.

Of course garven is highest in target priority. He has the force multiplying ability and highest PS. While I love the idea of hobbie w/ opportunist, I am thinking a different kind of list will get more use out of it....not sure exactly what, yet...

Also want to point out that Luke, Biggs & 2 rookies is still the stronger list

That's 2 PS5 X-Wings to strip tokens and soften targets up and 2 PS3 harder hitting A-Wings to bat cleanup.

What about:

That's 2 PS5 X-Wings to strip tokens and soften targets up and 2 PS3 harder hitting A-Wings to bat cleanup.

The only downside to this is that opportunist on A-wings only bumps them up to 3/4 attack dice, where it would bump an x-wing to 4/5. plus with TL and focus on hobbie you're maximizing damage output, and you need garven for that.
