I have a couple somewhere around, saw the unedited american version of the film first so am used to biggs although i can see why they did biggles, its like when we got ninja turtles over here they were called hero turtles instead.

That isn't a scan or a photograph it's a digital image, easily buildable in photoshop or card creator app.

Just bought my second core set. 1st one was from a local shop here in Aberdeen UK which gave me a Biggles. TO be honest I actually had not noticed as I play Empire. 2nd core set was from Amazon EU and was Biggs. I thought it was a different character until I saw the posts.

So which one do I field????

In Germany Biggs is of course Balduin Dunkelleuchter, named after a hero in the Thirty Years' War.

Baron Soontir Fel is Baron Manfred von Richthofen

and Backstabber is Hermann Göring

But the sad truth is:

'Howlrunner' in german version is 'Kreischläufer' ... which I would translate back to 'Screamwalker'

'Winged Gundark' is 'Geflügelter Gundark' ... 'Geflügel' means poultry ... so Gundark just reminds me on chicken wings

'Night Beast' is 'Nachtbestie' ... that seems to be ok.

All other named pilots are the same in english (or american) and german version.

The odd thing is: The translation only strucked the named pilots of Obsidian Squadron...

Must admit i think this has more than a whiff of BS about it, This game has been out for coming up to 2 years, IF they were going to do regional variations of the cards it would have shown up before now

Mykilus, I hadn't considered that before...but I don't see this as any different to the variations other languages (German, Italian etc.) have. I used to play a lot of TCG's back in the day, and UK variants were equally as popular!

Really? I have to check the cards of one of my friends. I am really sure that hes has "Howlrunner", not "Kreischläufer". Maybe his only pack in english >.>

this is a reason why I usually buy the english versions of games I'm interested in, in Germany we have the horrible tradition of translating everything into oblivion, with sometimes comical or sad results...

I think most TOs in the UK (where this comes up a lot) rule if the character is the same the name differences are irrelevant.

I havent come across people using both in games in tornys in the uk as for freindly games we ban duplicates as it is the same card technically.
