Melee - Titles

By HastAttack, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Sorry cannot remember/ find the names

If I have the title which gives me 2 influence, can I stand it using Prepare for War

Choose any number of influence providing cards with combined printed cost 3 or lower. Kneel all chosen cards or stand all chosen

I expect not but I though it was worth checking

A more confusing issue is with Den of the Wolf ...

kneel 3 influence and discard Den of the Wolf from play (cannot be saved) to repeat the current phase at the end of the phase. (Limit once per game.)

In a 3 player game with 6 titles available at the start of the round

If we reveal plot cards and take titles (one each) and then I play Den of the Wolf, what happens?

We have been playing that we reveal a new plot card and each take a second title - but that the first player remains the player who won inititive originally

It is also the same first player who gets to pick their second title first

So far this has only happened when there have been all 6 titles in play and we have only taken one each after the first plot reveal ... there could be situations where there is not enought titles to go round for second time (If applicable) - so what would happen then

1) Melee Titles are not cards in the game nor are they cards in play. They just represent an additional perk in the game. The influence title is commonly "knelt" to represent that it has been used up, but it does not "stand" at any point during the game because it the influence is simply "used".

2) I feel like this situation has been discussed before, but I don't recall exactly where or when.

I don't really have a good answer for you on the melee titles, however I don't think you would be able to select a 2nd title each without a card effect specifically allowing you to do so, like the plot "I Fight to Win".

I could be wrong. Perhaps someone more familiar with the melee rules could chime in.

1. Bomb is exactly correct.

2. If Den of the Wolf, you play the whole phase again - including revealing plots, counting initiative AND choosing first player. First player can, an likely will, change after Den of the Wolf. After plots are resolved, you choose titles (check the Core rule book). You only get to choose a title if you don't have one, so since everyone already has one, no one gets a second. There is nothing in the rules or card effects allowing you to have two titles, and past interpretations of situations like this imply that having a title stops you from choosing another (short of a card effect saying otherwise).

thanks - we were just guessing as to how replaying the plot phase should work
