So, I was wondering what the appeal of Han is. It's basically a target lock with the pro of not being an action. What I think defeats the point for me is that you don't get to CHOOSE which dice to reroll, you have to reroll all of them. In my opinion this doesn't really seem worth the extra 2-4 points to me. I'd take chewbacca or lando's abilities any day. Especially since they are cheaper to use.
Han Solo
The benefit of his ability is that it's not an attack . With Han and Gunner you basically get to roll 4 times, giving you ample opportunity to hit. If you're not using Gunner and/or Marksmanship, it's really not that great of an ability.

We'll... Veteran instincts saves me a point if I use lando

Until Greedo sees print as a pilot, anyways.
A good portion of this game is based on the dice. Han's ability allows you to take that one bad roll and pick it up and say "NOT TODAY DICE!"
Han is forgiving. Combined with a ship that allows you to basically shoot whatever you want each turn, the most HP on a ship, and I'd argue the best dial in the game, he becomes an offensive juggernaut with a gunner and marksmanship. Against action denial lists he is still solid as his ability lets you bump and still reroll. AND HOW CAN I FORGET THE PILOT SKILL!?!?! HE SHOOTS FIRST!

And uses your EPT when you could be using swarm tactics or something better on lando

Han will still have his EPT slot available, without neediing to use VI.

You can only use TL once.
Look, if you're trying to justify Han's ability in a vacuum, you can't. It's really not that good, by itself, for what you're investing. But this game isn't played in a vacuum, and several seasons of use have amply demonstrated the power of Han + Gunner + Marksmanship. I also like Chewie and Lando better, but we're not exactly treading new ground here.

also, his ability can be used for missiles. try him with clusters

With clusters, would you be able to use his ability on the first set, then roll the 2nd, and potentially then reroll THAT set?
That I can justify, cause I really like cluster missiles. 12 dice rolls sounds fine to me.also, his ability can be used for missiles. try him with clusters

Yes, just like Gunner.

Once again.... Target lock.
Target Lock is an action. I'd rather use Han's ability with a focus or marksmanship. It's like getting a free target lock every turn from Han's ability. He is great against squints, I've poofed Jax once a week since Aces came out because of Han's ability. Combined with Marksmanship and Sensor Jammers on a B-wing does no good. Target lock is a one time thing. HAN'S ABILITY IS EVERY TIME YOU ATTACK!!!
Little known fact when I won my Falcon at the first world tournament and I opened the box I was like "WTF???" I was let down. I didn't get it. But I was convinced that it had to be a good ability because it was Han Solo. It took me a month to figure out how to fly a Falcon and get the most out of Han. After that, well I'd like to say that without arrogance or pride my reputation flying Han speaks for itself. Trust me you just don't get it yet but you will. Han's ability with a gunner and marksmanship is one of the deadliest combos in the game.

I'm still trying to get over my disappointment at Boba Fett's pilot ability...
Edited by WonderWAAAGHALSO with pilots like , Tarn, defenders, Phantoms, and Ewings. Those free rerolls are going to add up.

Fett's ability is going to shine against wave for ships. People don't play him with an autoblaster enough. They will start. I think he is going to come into his own now.
I find it odd that Han's ability is combat oriented and Fett's is piloting oriented. I've always thought it should be the opposite.
Since it has been brought up, how does Marksman + Gunner compare to using just Luke? Since I've only recently acquired the Gunner card, I previously used Luke with the Falcon title - this meant I could use my action for some extra defence, whilst my attacks were consistently doing good damage (using the first attack to strip tokens etc.).
I see the benefit of Marksman but obviously it means you can't do anything else. So, is Marksman significantly better to warrant this?
Edited by Ghost DancerMarksman applies to all attacks that round. Luke applies only to the additional attack he grants. They can't stack though.

Yeah I know how it works
What I meant was is there a significant difference in damage output between the two?
I found with Luke, that I my hits would often get cancelled in the first attack but would strip tokens, then deal damage in the second attack.

Yes! Its like Han's ability was developed with Boba and the other way around. And then they switched the abilities for some reason.

I think that if you go looking you'll find a bunch of counterparts with abilities that could go on either one, sometimes even work better with their counterpart's ability.
Maarek and Farlander for instance, Wedge and Soontir. Jax and Wes have nearly the same ability, Turr and Farrell (maybe because Farrell can get a focus from Garven during combat?)
