Epic smuggler list: 299 points

Since I first set eyes on Edge of the Empire I knew I wanted a fleet of ships which were less Rebel and more Freelance. While I hope in the future there will be such ships as the YT-2400 and Cloakshape Fighters, for now I'm basing this list on what I know to be available:

This was my original 100 points list and I intended the two to work together but now I might split them up.

8 Z-95 ( yes 8 ) Tala Squadron Pilots

Cluster Missiles

Munitions Failsafe

I might split these up so that 4 join Jan and 4 join Lando. Might swap their "Wingman" for "Squad Leader".

Thoughts, opinions, mocking laughter...what do you think of my Epic smuggler list?

I would go assault missiles/mix and match between the clusters and assault. This will deter the inevitable swarms of ties (and maybe other z95s in tourneys) from grouping up too much (which formation flying in large groups is their strength).

Ah yes...the swarms. Good tip there with the missiles. Though I hope they'll be hittiles

Nien Numb can't be on both Lando and Jan, for starters.

I don't know if 1 main attacker, 1 ion cannon, and 8 TIE fighters will be enough to finish off whatever your alpha strike leaves alive

Unless you have Jonus or a FCS, Concussion Missiles are better, even against agility 1 targets.

Leave Nien Nunb with the HWK.

I didn't realise my list was an Alpha Strike...not going to complain if it is.

The advantages of concussion over clusters are

  1. range 3 and
  2. more damage.

Unless you have FCS, marksmanship or multiple focus tokens, clusters have only one advantage over concussion: Range 1. You choose clusters because you want to shoot at range 1. For range 2 (and 3) you use concussion.

Isn't Munitions failsafe a bad match for cluster missiles, since it is very unlikely that both attacks will miss.

That was my first reaction...

Maybe a mix of Assault Missiles and Concussion Missiles?

Since I'm not really that keen on the Transport, though I'll probably still get one, I thought I'd see what I could do with 300 points to spend on just ships. Hopefully we'll see YT-2400 and Cloakshape Fighters in the future, with Ghost from the upcoming Rebels perhaps, so I can put together a more varied list. But sticking with my smuggler theme, here's what I've come up with:

Z-95 Headhunters

12 x Bandit Squadron Pilots

Ion Pulse Missiles

Munitions Failsafe

Lando Calrissian

Millennium Falcon

Draw their fire ( with so many hull and shield, it could prove helpful to other ships and... )

Concussion Missiles

Chewbacca ( ...chewbacca can deal with any consequences of drawing the fire )

Blaster Turret ( there's enough ions and this just gives the HWK something to shoot with. Got enough points for a change to Ion Turret )
