Knave Squadron Pilot - Hard to Kill

By dakralter, in X-Wing

With the E-Wing reveal now up (missing the maneuver dial, what's up with that FFG), the survivability of this thing is pretty apparent.

Here's how I'm building -

3x Knave Squadron Pilot

R7 Astromech

Fire Control System

Stealth Device

Since the low pilot skill means you will be attacking last, you can fully utilize the R7's functionality. Basically, the E-Wing with this configuration will be rolling 4 or 5 defense, with the possibility of a forced re-roll for the attacking player. Oh yeah, and did I mention it can perform the evade action?

All of this, plus the fire control system, means you will almost always have a target lock. I'm not usually a big fan of expensive low PS ships, but it's hard to discount how long these things will stick around.

And my fault is that I thought the R7 was a cost of 1, and therefore this list doesn't work. Damnit.

Yes and no. R7 only works once per round, and with only three ships, you'll want to focus fire. There's not much of a reason that the three Knaves shouldn't all attack the same target. So, then, when the return fire comes, the enemy will do the same. You'll likely get one free attack that does nearly nothing, but then all the other enemy ships will wail on the defenseless ship, just like they do now. And if it is a large squad or a squad backed up by Howlrunner, that one Knave will be gone quick.

The best way to get the benefit of R7 is to joust, but E-wings I feel will be much better outside of the joust setting. Tarn Mison is the first pilot that comes to mind when I think of who can benefit from R7.
