Yesterday I played a 300 point game as rebel, and I basically build 3 100 point lists. I started with three of my favorite lists (4 X-wings, 3 B-wings, and HSF) and then re-worked them to change the way they worked. I dropped one rookie from HSF to upgrade the other to Biggs, and took a few points off the B's to further upgrade my core (X-wings,) and ended up with the following:
Flight 1
Wedge Antilles (29)
-R2 Astromech (1)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
-Proton Torpedo (4)
Luke Skywalker (28)
-R2-D2 (4)
-Shield Upgrade (4)
-Draw Their Fire (1)
Red Squadron Pilot (23)
Red Squadron Pilot (23)
Flight 2
Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
-Advanced Sensors (3)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
-Advanced Sensors (3)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
-Advanced Sensors (3)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
Flight 3
Han Solo (46)
-Chewbacca (4)
-Gunner (5)
-Milennium Falcon (1)
-Push the Limit (3)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
-Hull Upgrade (3)
My opponent flew Elite Rebels (Chewbacca, Garven, Wedge, Horton, Dutch, Jan Ors, PTLTycho, Arvel, Ten Numb, and a Dagger Squadron Pilot, with ion cannon turrets and few other upgrades.)
The idea was Flight 1 would be the core, fly roughly up the center and hit the center of his squad. Flight 2 would flank for 1, using their placement options to their advantage and boxing the opponent in. Flight 3 would sweep up from the far side, use Biggs to protect Han and keep him alive longer while Han eliminated the priority threat each turn.
Flight 1 got set up in the center as planned, with both Reds in front, Luke behind them in the center and Wedge paired to Luke on the left. FLight 2 was set up 1-2 about range 2 to their right, also facing forward. Han was set up another range 3 to F2's right, with biggs range 1 to HIS right. The first round of movement both me and my opponent went slow except the A-wings, who swung down on my left, and Han/Biggs, who raced up to his left trying to get into the game. The next turn, my X's advanced into firing range, by B's banked into view, and Han appeared on the horizon, while half of his fleet hung too far back to do anything, and his Y's (furthest on his left/my right) didn't think Han would go that fast. Arvel, Chewie, Dutch, and Horton had shots from his side, while Biggs was the ONLY ship on my side without a shot. Dutch died to Han and B-wings, and Chewie took a couple hits from range 3 X-wings, and one of my front B-wings were ioned.
Round 3, my X-wings banked towards Chewie, the B's barrel rolled back to be in front of Han and still have shots on his entire force, Han banked back toward his edge, and Biggs attempted to continue to get anywhere near the combat. His Wedge ended up point blank, range 1 to mine, but both A-wings went the wrong way and were pointing at my starting zone, and his B's, Garven, Jan, and Chewie traffic jam'd in front of my X's and B's. At the end of the round of fire, another of my B's had been ioned, Luke had lost his shields and taken the "At the start of combat, roll a damage die" crit, and Wedge took a total of 5 non-cirt damage (lost both shields and 3 of his 4 hull while Luke watched in horror) while Horton had 1 hull remaining, Chewie had 1 hull remaining, and his Dagger was down to just hull left.
4th and final round, the X's K-turned (Wedge hit a rock and died), Chewie turned into his Wedge and A-wings, my B-wings turned on his B's and Garven, Han hard turned behind Horton, and Biggs left hard turned 3 (had moved Bank left 3, Straight 4, Straight 4 so far) and STILL was out of firing range, although he had finally been protecting Han since last turn. His traffic jam continued, though his dagger broke free and ended up staring down my weakened one. All of my X-wings managed to miss Chewie, and so did 2 of my 3 Daggers, but my damaged dagger killed his while dying to the same, and Han finished Horton.
After nearly 2 hours of play, he called the game there, with my full health Han, Biggs, 2 Red Squadrons, and 2 Daggers, and a damaged Luke, against his 1 health Chewie, and full health but badly positioned entire rest of his squad. My guys were in full chasing position now, while his were all facing the wrong way.
