Skirmish mode for Descent?

By Beren Eoath, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

OK, so a friend of my who is a long time fan of Warhammer Fantasy and Descent asked my if I want to play his Mordheim version of Descent. He made some rules basely the mechanic stays Descent but each player choses 4 heroes he controls. The each player moves one hero at a time. So in each round of the game the 1st player moves one of his heroes, then 2nd player activades one of his heroes. The rounds ends when all heroes where activated.

The map is set by all player and each player can put one map tile, they continue until they will be satisfied. Very important is that they shoud use X entry/exit tiles - those will be starting locations, X is the number of players playing the game. And one more thing each player gets one Overlord class of his choice - this will be his deck. At the biggining of the round all players can draw 1 Overlord card from fis deck.

Then players are choosing a special quest/mission rules like battle for tresures (search tokens and other tokens) or rescue a villiger or capture the flag. In this version Objective tokens have many meaning which I can not remember right now for example red ones where traps, this was fun becouse You never know what Objective You are searching and it's a suprise.

Each mission/quest has specific rules for victory, and one more importent thig each hero can only be revived once per game and only by a healer.

The rules for that where 4 pages of A4 long plus quests so I can not rememebr all of them but it was a great addition to normal play of Descent. I had fun with it and just wanted to shere this exirience with You.

I think it another grerat way to use this game and haver fun with it,

Cheers

PS. I almost forgot there where also rules to summon monsters and gaining expireince - which You can later use to advance You Heroes, buy Overlord cards, get monsters into You Adventures group or even Lieutenats. I'm perfectly sure that it was not the last time I played it with him and my gaming group.

Has he uploaded the rules to BGG? If so, you should post a link. If not, he should get on that. ;-)

I will try to convience him to translate all his work and publish it so everyone could try it. I just gave a basic overview and now I'm prepering for another round of Descent skirmish adventure this weekend,

cheers

Did you convince him? I'd really like to try out this skirmishy-mordheimish variant! (:

Any chance to get the rules for this skirmish mod? Never mind if not in English. I can translate it by myself. Could you share it, please?

That sounds like an awesome variant. "Descent Duels Skirmish Variant (DDSV)" has a nice ring to it. I second the request for an upload to BGG.

Indeed, a good idea. Give it us, my precious, give it to us. ;)

Yea. I am curious as well. It would be cool to try it out. Something different for descent. That is basically what Imperial assault is
