Oath of the Outcast - release date?

By Beren Eoath, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi,

does anyone know when this will be avaliable? I know it will be may but at the biggining or end?

What are You expectations when it comes to H&M Collection and the first expansion in this series?

I hope that it will future really high quality minis, becouse the one in SoN where not so great. The detials on some where better but mostly the faces where flat (withour nose or mouth) So when it comes to an expansion that is pure plastic I expect that minis will be very high quality with good details - like the ones showed in previews.

When it comes to quest, those will be nice to see but they will be just an addition to figures.

My opinion is based on previews an on that I have all 1e expansions (I'm a fan of Descent for a long, long time - since 1e base game).

Stil I want to see those new sculps and more balanced monsters and Heroes. (In the Conversion Kit some where real powerfull and others just to weak).

Cheers

I know it is May but does anyone know some more detailed date of the release?

The only people who would is FFG themselves, and since they never came answer here, we all have the same informations

It's safe to assume the end of the month... it's usually toward the end, anyway.

I heard 9.23am on the 23rd May.

Descent goodies on my birthday! I am down with that!

Are you able to clarify how many seconds ?

Kinda guessing at 23s.

It's available now guys.

Am stroking my beastmen as I type.

I got an email from bookdepository saying it was available, i only saw the email 2h 30m after receiving it and they had already sold out >_< gonna have to find it elsewhere now, trying to get expansions in Australia in a timely fashion is a pain in the butt.

I got mine today too. :) I'm very satisfied with it... The minis all look so great (the bane spiders are my favorite). Can't wait to try the quests out!

Pictures please! :D

That's really helpful and awesome. Thanks a lot for taking the time to share those pictures!

thanks

can't wait to have mine this week !

Comparing the monster stats from the conversion kit, I notice that minion Beastmen from Act I got a life boost from 2 to 4 (we already knew from the previews that act II minion Beastmen had been boosted from 4 to 5) .

what are the rewards ?

The overlord gains a card from the act1 encounter, but not a relic from the act 2 ?

Gonna go get mine at lunch!

Picked this up too. The miniatures in my pack are surprisingly better quality than any of the full box expansion minis... it's really nice. The bane spiders look just evil, and I don't even paint mine.

The rumor quest is interesting too, the biggest part being that if you drop it down and the heroes don't do it, you just get the reward (OL Card) and open the act 2 quest. If they DO take the quest, they get nothing if they win (outside search cards) and you get an OL ability if you win (it's a speed increasing ability).

So basicaly:

"Hey guys, here's this really lame quest that you pretty much have to play and win or I get a neat OL card for free. Mwhahahahaha..."

This may sound imbalanced when scanning it quickly, but in reality its exactly what I expect an evil overlord distraction plot to be.

I think more of the Rumor plots should have been that way, honestly. Prior to the plot decks, there was little incentive for the OL to play a Rumor, as while they could get a reward, the heroes stand to gain a bit more (even if just slightly). This is because win or lose, the Heroes could still walk away with something: gold (and perhaps a relic, if they do win). For the OL, it was all-or-nothing - if they win, they get the relic, if they lose, they get nothing.

At least with the campaign quests, if the OL lost, he still gets experience (even if the heroes get a little more, too). And yes, the heroes get gold when they lose, too, but I think the difference is that in the campaign, everyone gets SOMETHING, win or lose, which is infinitely more than getting NOTHING :)

The plot decks changed this by allowing Rumors to be used to try and gather threat, so that helped, but having a "if you don't follow up on this rumor, the OL gets their prize anyway" reward would make it more likely to be done, especially if it's a quest that does happen to favor the OL and the heroes keep winning the campaign quests.

The nice thing is, it wouldn't be that hard to incorporate this with existing rumors, and I'm not really sure it would imbalance it that much.

Opened mine today - baseless spider, will have to glue it back on. Anyone else?

Mine were all fine, aside from the dreaded flash and mold lines that are to be expected. :)
