Looking for eote dice for other games?

By AgentJ, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I thought I read about people making adaptations to other games to be able to use the eote dice. I was wondering if anyone did that for pathfinder? I am trying to play pathfinder and I find it not nearly as fun/exciting as when I used to play before I started playing ffg's star wars eote rpg. I just find it so dull compared to eote however, I still want to play pathfinder because my friends still play it (really hoping I can convert them to the dark side). I think if I can get them to start using the dice then we can all have more fun.

So basically wondering if anyone has converted pathfinder into using eote dice?

I think that there are a couple of posters on this forum that have done some conversions, too; not just fantasy, but modern as well. And I know there's a western-era one that's easy to find here.

I've been toying with the idea of doing my own Pathfinder-based conversion. It's a massive undertaking. You start with the Characteristics and Skills in order to be able to make dice pools, but then you need to overhaul the Careers and Specializations (EotE has very few 'melee' specs. and only two 'magic' ones), then you need to develop Talents for each, then you need to rework the magic system. Then there's equipment, magical items, vehicles/mounts, Obligation, etc.

If I ever get anything done on my conversion, I'll post it for feedback. I'm keen on it, but I'm betting my Pathfinder group couldn't care less, so this is more of a pet project than anything that matters.

Better IMO to simply overhaul EotE with a Pathfinder skin.

The main problem lies in the fact that EotE and Pathfinder are such different games...levels, grid-based 6-second-turn combat, classes, hit points, magic, damage levels, defense/DC numbers...I'm sure the list goes on. It might be as easy as scaling down the numbers, but then there's also elements in EotE like soak and strain that are unaccounted for. The dice system really seems to factor all these elements in.

There is at least one fantasy overhaul that I know of, implemented by JasonJRR. As far as I know, he's been willing to share his work if you're interested in it. At the very least, it could be a good starting point for you.

I haven't played the game, so can't say if it's as good as EotE, but isn't switching out the setting and using Warhammer a viable solution?

Similar dice + magic + monsters.

No idea. I have seen warhammer 40k and that does not interest me, so if it is at all similar then its not for me. Anyone play/played warhammer the rpg from ffg? If so thoughts, critics, etc please & thank you.

I like the basic system of WHFRPG but it gets over complex in certain ways I think and I am no fan of the different sized cards for everything in the game. I think if you house rule a couple things it would streamline spellcasting and make it less cumbersome.

I'd love it if FFG did some kind of superhero system with the narrative dice system. Even Arkham might be cool, very Indiana Jones I think.
