I have been reading some of the postings regarding "PtL" & free actions. I am wondering when one can activate the "Push the Limit" skill.

Is it limited to the just during "activation phase"? People are activating it during the "attack phase" (with Turr - post free his boost or b-roll) - is this legal?

Push the limit says "...after you perform an action..." So you may use it after you perform an action. There are no other limits given about the type of action or when the action was performed, just that it is used after you perform an action (and that it may only be used once per round. )

I am not sure about that. Turr ability to do a boost or b-roll is consider an inate ability - that does not mean that one is allow to piggy-back on it a "Push the limit" action. Doing so seemed to violate the spirit of the rules for me.

I wonder if FFG have officially ruled on this or not?

No they do not. And none is required.

PTL is not limited to the activation phase. Actions are not limited to the activation phase (Cracken). Actions are not limited to the perform action step of the activation phase (Lando, advanced sensors). PTL is not limited to the perform action step of the activation phase. Because no such limits are written anywhere.

Well, why would Turr's "innate ability" mean you couldn't trigger PtL from it?

As dvor has pointed out, Turr allows you to take an action. PtL is triggered by an action. There are no other limitations on either ability.

It's worth noting that at least part of your framing - "innate ability" doesn't have any meaning in X-wing. Whether an ability is on a pilot card, an upgrade card, or gained as the result of a critical damage result, there is no distinction in the rules for how that ability is handled.

So it seems that you're trying to ignore the plain text of the cards by creating a distinction which doesn't exist in the rules (and I'm honestly not sure would matter even if it did exist). Any chance you could elaborate (on the rules side, I'm not getting into the "spirit" of it) as to why you think it doesn't work?
