Well if you want to stick with those ships you could always give the Royal Guard a shield and hull upgrade.

Maybe add a heavy laser cannon to the Bounty Hunter and leave 1 point for initiative choice?

Or get rid of the recon specialist, downgrade RG to Saber squadron and add in an academy pilot?

Give Night Beast and the RG targeting computers, and give the BH anti-pursuit lasers and a seismic charge?

Give BH a proton bomb, and anybody a hull or stealth device?

Plenty of options

You could demote Night Beast or Backstabber in lieu of 2x Academy Pilots.

Could go with a named BH.

How useful would it be to give the -spray an Ion Cannon??

Depends who you're facing, and if you're doing that you might want to upgrade the BH to Krassis

Making a minimum of changes, I'd start with this:

Night Beast -> Dark Curse

Royal Guard Pilot -> Carnor Jax

3 Push the Limit

16 Dark Curse

This will give your opponents fits, and still has three points worth of wiggle room. Add a Hull Upgrade or Stealth Device and call it a day.

So now I am down to 3 main lists; either increased survivability:

BH + RecSpec

Backstabber

Night Beast/DC

RGI + PtL + HU + SU

(99/100)

Change BH for Krassis and go for the kill:

Krassis + Rebel Captive + Ion Cannon

RGI + PtL + TC

Or change RGI for Jax:

@revanchist I have little experience on imps so can't really comment on the performance of your builds but as a former rebel player list 2 is the one I'd fear the most. Bs melt under IC and with the free reroll Krassis can use actions for def + PS boost.

I just switched to the dark side, my squad looks a lot like yours:

Fett + EH+RC

Lt. Lorrir

Take out RG put in Fel.

With PTL he can have better defensive abilities

Very hard to kill, especially if he had 2 focus tokens

Of your 3 options, I think this is the best. However, I say that with 1 reservation: if you've never flown Jax, or have little experience with him (like me) you might be disapointed in him. He takes a very different mindset to fly effectively then any other interceptor. So if you have experience or plenty of time to practice, then this would be a good list to use. Although personally, I prefer Night Beast over Dark Curse (I get he's extra annoying with Jax nearby, but let's face it, only an idiot would shoot Dark Curse while Jax is still alive...), but that's a minor quibble.

Personally, this is what I'd run:

BH w/ recon spec.

Backstabber

Night Beast w/ Targeting Comp

Turr Phennir w/ PtL & Hull Upgrade

Or you could put the TC on Turr (with royal guard title), but I think it helps NB a little bit more...
