Some nooby questions ;-)

By Dicemaster, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to the game and was wondering about the following:

A. Shooting

1) When you shoot at a ship and your ruler crosses the base of another ship, does the defender get an extra defence die? (as with the rule for obstacles)

2) When a ship is only partially obscured by an obstacle, does it get an extra defence die when shot at?

B. Movement

1) When you fly past an obstacle, do you roll a damage die when the template touches the obstacle or do you move your ship over the template and roll a damage die when it's base touches the obstacle during the move?

Thank you in advance for your help. ;-)

Other ships do not obstruct shooting

You draw an imaginary line between the 2 ships, closest point to closest point, if that imaginary line crosses an obstacle, the attack is obstructed

You roll for the damage if the movement template, or the ship's base in its final position overlap the obstacle.

Short answer: No, Yes, and The First One.

Forgottenlore got the explanations for you.

Thank you for your replies :)

Minor clarification here: draw the line closest point to closest point within the firing arc of the attacker. If the attacker is using a turret, then it is simply closest to closest.
