Sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it.

If the heroes discarded every second treasure card, is the discard pile of search cards reshuffled if they search a token and there are no more cards in the deck?

no, the search deck is never reshuffled during a quest (only after quest with all the search cards)
