Fettigator Plus

By Admiral JCJF, in X-Wing

I've been thinking recently about running a Lambda Shuttle with a pair of Royal Guard Interceptors, tanking up the Lambda as much as possible and throwing the Guards around the flanks.

But this line of thought got me around to other options for pairing up the Royal Guards with large ships, and thus to the Firespray-31.

One of the things I was lamenting with the Lambda was how great the combination of the "stop" option with Expert Handling would be in the early phase of the game to allow additional fire at Range 3 with a Heavy Laser Cannon.

But that idea, futile though it is due to the lack of an Elite Pilot Talent upgrade option on any of the Lambdas, made me think how amazing that upgrade would be on a Fettigator Firespray!

Here's the list I was considering:

Boba Fett - Firespray-31

+ Navigator

+ Expert Handling

Royal Guard Pilot - TIE Interceptor

+ Push the Limit

+ Hull Upgrade

Royal Guard Pilot - TIE Interceptor

+ Push the Limit

+ Hull Upgrade

= 100pts

Fett with the Navigator and Expert Handling is mobility mad, to the point where it's basically impossible to predict where he will be and I can get him into ANY position I need.

Basically the same can be said of the pair of Royal Guards, though obviously the intention would be for them to use their speed to get around the outside and behind the enemy while Fett mixes it up in the center field.

Thoughts?

Very good evasive fleet. But not much punch. Obviously against a lot of fleet your moving last and shooting first but I can see getting a few bumps that'll really mess the plan up.

I ran a list that was fairly similar to this one at a tournament. It worked very well against 3 ship elite pilot builds, but had trouble handling large numbers.

Fun list to fly though!

You're going to get a lot less use out of Navigator than you think you will, or even Fett's pilot ability for that matter.

And this is especially true if you're taking stress frequently to use EH. You've only got a very small number of potential maneuver swaps, and you should often be able to predict the best one when you set your dial.

Seems that Fetigator one of those Ideas that looks better than it actually flies, given the space available to a big ship.

What would be amazing if allowed would be Fett with EH and Advanced Sensors. His ability to reposition exactly where he wanted within a smaller area would be spectacular I reckon. Given Fett is generally seen as having one of the weaker pilots skills, allowing him to fit Advanced Sensors would be a cheeky fix.

I fought this list at the regionals, and easily beat it with an xxyb build, it's fast and full of tricks (got behind my squadron in 3 turns), but after 2 combat rounds the Fett is Dead. Mopping up the remaining 2 is tricky but very dooable, and otherwise I stil would've won on points.... Don't do it.

Sounds like the person you were playing did not use this combo to its fullest, the squad is based on maneuvering. So unless you had 2 yts or mostly turrets, he should not of been in your firing arc for more then a turn.

Yeah, the idea of this is to play on the mobility strengths of the three ships.

But I think it will work more effectively overall with a tank of a big ship.

Still... glad to hear that it's as much fun to fly as it appeared to be!
