New spoilers from the Rebel Transport expansion (my copy arrived!)

Also, on another topic, just saw someone suggest Kamikaze style attacks. Let's say you have an academy or headhunter or 2 with 1HP left, and a corvette is low on health. You could deliberately collide, so then when the ship moves it could likely run over you and have to roll damage. Seems risky considering you could have another chance to attack, but if the corvette has close range weapons or there are enemy fighters on your trail, you could die without another chance to do damage. Could this strategy prove fruitful?

That would have been me... MajorJuggler fresh out of the academy, reporting for duty!! ;)

Or better yet, use Arvel!

That's about the only thing he's good for ;)

So I just realized that opportunist could help deal a LOT of damage against huge ships. Even if reinforced, the reinforce token is not ducts or evade, so on a close range attack you could still get a number of hits thru.

I did as well. It would be interesting indeed.

Be funny if we get an Epic only version of Arvel where if he either collides or would be overlapped by a huge ship he gives a guaranteed Crit damage.

Got the unboxing video up:

Any chance of revealing the rules for the Star Destroyer from the mission?

I heart you

I like your size comparisons. :)"it's bigger then a dinosaur."

So, I picked my (first) copy up last night and immediately started looking at how I could light up those engines. I gotta say, for a ship that large, those engines are tiny... Though I guess it's really more like a floating barge...

A cursory look yielded no plan... it would seem that there's no easy way to do that. But this morning I was looking again, and you can clearly see and access where the top half was put onto the bottom. So, as far as opening the ship up, it would seem the best way to do that would be to literally cut the ship in half and take off the top (which has the side effect of likely leaving a nice surface to actually do the electronics).

However, then the second problem is that there's very little material attaching the engine pods to the rest of the ship. Too little to actually fit an LED in there and make it work. Thank god for fiber optics though. One should be able to drill two holes, one from the inside down, and one from the engine pod back in order to make a conduit to fish the fiber optics through.

It would appear that this is a possible venture, and while the electronics should be easier than the Falcon (who was rather cramped) the modeling will be more precise and on a much larger scale (and smaller scale at the same time) to get this to work. Good thing I busted out the Falcon the other day to finally finish it up so I can start on this project.

You know, with how small the damage decks are, Maarek Stele is going to be right up there with Rexhlar in usefulness in hunting huge ships.

Do we really think that Marrek Stele could finally make a proper showing?

Yes.

He's cheaper than Brath, he can take missiles, speed is going to be a larger factor now with larger play areas and the ability to slip inside a corvette's "minimum distance". He's still not going to be as attractive as Vader or Soontir but he can certainly find more uses.

Of course I've always liked him so I might be biased.

Yes. We still have to see what the Corvette's damage decks are like, but I don't imagine they will be much bigger. When Maarek gets a crit on a Transport, he goes through a third of a damage deck. That is extremely powerful for hunting for a specific crit. Start stacking up the Energy reduction crits, and the Transport will have a tough time regenerating shields. Or, you can go for a few stress on the opponents ships. If you want a specific crit, Maarek is great for finding it. As compared to standard damage deck, which his ability only allows you to look and choose from a 1/11 of the deck.

Yes. We still have to see what the Corvette's damage decks are like,

I very much got the impression that the huge ships all use the same 2 damage decks, not that each class ship had a different pair.

Is there something in the transport box that suggests otherwise?

Is there something in the transport box that suggests otherwise?

Well the transport has one that prevents you from preforming the Jamming action. The CR-90 can't preform that action however. So that would be an effective free crit for it.

There's also nothing in the Transport fore deck that effects weapon fire.

So my guess, the aft deck might be the same, but the fore deck won't be.

We will see. I just double checked the Corvette preview, and it does have 10 card damage decks. They have different back images, though. I would think that would mean there is a difference. Otherwise, they would've just had a more generic image with fore/aft on it.

Well, we know that both ships come with their own damage deck (since every ship is independently played). And we also know that each ship in play uses its own damage decks (10 hull each including combat retrofit)...

Plus, if you go back and look at the damage deck for the CR-90, it clearly has a picture of the CR-90 not the GR-75 like the transport damage deck picture. So it would seem to me that they're unique.

Yeah, OK. That pretty much settles it, different cards

=) Well we need to transport those banthas, dewbacks, and tyranosaurs somehow.... it's like a galactic Noah's ark!

Absolutely. You guys might want to start watching for Advanced's going on sale - especially if you only have 1.

Good thing I have two TIE Advanceds!

...that's my first time saying that.

Has anyone posted the rules for the campaign regarding how the off-map ISD turbolasers work? Interested in this for some other scenarios my group has put together.

Just picked up my Transport. Absolutely beautiful. :P

Told ya ;)

I just got mine at my LGS. The detail on the bottom of the Transport is outstanding.

You guys don't have to rub it in... ;)

can someone help me out with a picture or information on the transport mission where you need 3 transports? i dont have the rule book on me =(
