Echpriest's multiple attacks

By Commediante, in Only War Rules Questions

I'm playing a Techpriest which has two mechadendrites, utility and manipulator, a Baleful Eye, a Lasgun and the laspistol.

My questions are:

1. How many attacks can I make and how should I modificate the tests in range and in melee.

2. Description of dendrites says that I can attack with them as standard attack and as reaction. Does it mean that while taking defensive stance I can make two attacks, one witch each of the dendrites?

3. Can I attack with Baleful Eye or mechadendrites while in grapple?

4. Can I attack with Baleful eye and laspistol as melee weapons?

5. Where are the rules for pistol in rulebook?

Hello, I too am playing a Techpriest and very much enjoying it. In answer to your questions.

1. You can make one attack action only on your turn, plus one attack as a reaction if you sacrifice a dodge or parry. Of course some talents allow you to fire more than one weapon, but this is still your one attack.

2. See above, same rules apply.

3. Yes, I see no reason why not, though you might have penalties with the mechadendrite depending on circumstances.

4. The baleful eye no, no more than headbutting an opponent. The laspistol as an improvised weapon I would say.

5. In the armoury (Chapter IV).

Hope that helps.

IIRC (and I might not) the baleful eye is a pistol, and thus follows the rules for pistols.

The Baleful eye acts as a Hotshot Laspistol - armoury page 174. It does however have its range halved to 10m.

I may be blind or sth., but I can't see the rules for pistol class weapon in the rulebook. Am I?

Hmm, assuming you have the same revision as I do then in chapter 6 (Armoury) of the main Only War rulebook, there is a table of weapons with damage, range, rof etc etc. The Hotshot Laspistol is under the 'Laser' section which is the first in the table.

3. Can I attack with Baleful Eye or mechadendrites while in grapple?

Yes, yes you can, but its alot harder in a grapple than it is to use them outside of it. You have to use 1 Grapple sub-action to Ready an Item (Balefule Eye or Mechadendrite), than wait until your next turn to do the sub-action Use an Item. At that point, you just roll damage. Since the Grapple Action (Regardless of Sub-Action) is one of the attack actions, you can't combine two sub-actions in a row (i.e. Ready an Item and Use an Item in the same round). The trade off here is you are denying your opponent a chance to attack or harm you while you jostle into position to utilize these weapons, granted the opponent does not break free or slip out of the grapple during his active turn.
