Calling all Imperial pilots!

By crazyxginger, in X-Wing

Its tourney time and I have decided to join a few in preparation for my local Assault on Imdaar Alpha event.

Thus, I wanted to sit down and begin a list to work with in these tourneys. So I ask my fellow Academy graduates, what are the most competitive Imperial lists? Obviously there is the generic Howlrunner/academy pilot swarm. I just wanted to see what other options I had to work with. I really like squints so interceptor lists will garner more approval.

Thanks for the input!

Howlrunner, saber sq x2, avenger sq x2 is something I was looking at, and then thought about...

Royal Guard Pilot, targeting computer, veteran instincts x4

*note I love interceptors too! and like the idea of targeting at high pilot skill and seeing how they do

I have just recently got hold of the aces and I'm thinking about this list:

Jax + Ptl + Royal Guard TIE + targeting computer + hull

Howlrunner

4x Academy TIE

You've got the mini swarm to do its usual business and jax to fly round and in behind taking down enemies and denying them their focuses and evades. If I can coordinate it properly it should be fairly nasty, I think. Not had chance to play test it yet.

Cheerio,

Ben

soontir fel
canror jax
royal guard pilot

all with royal guard push the limit targeting computer and hull upgrade

fel have 3 fokus tokens if he use push the limit
and the oter have 2
i think it would be fine to have a evade token rdy and target lock

with this 3 i go in range one and the enemy have a blast of dmage he cant evade with token becouse jax dont let them

one time he is in formation in range 1 the pilot have many problems

i think this is good but i need other upgrades to give jax more def, he must life long...

fel have 3 fokus tokens if he use push the limit

How does Fell get three Focus tokens?

He can take two actions with PTL, but not the same action twice. Then he'd recieve a second Focus token from his ability.

Because someone doesn't understand that you can't perform the same action twice?

" fel have 3 fokus tokens if he use push the limit

I have 3 lists i'm play testing at the mo. All have the following:

Howlrunner + swarm tactics

4 x Academy TIE

and then either:

Soontir Fel + PTL, targeting computer

Carnor Jax + PTL, hull upgrade

Omicron Pilot + FCS, gunner, engine

soontir fel card say

When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 focus token to your ship.
after he use PTL he recived a stress token and get the 3 token

soontir fel card say

When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 focus token to your ship.

after he use PTL he recived a stress token and get the 3 token

That's not how it works...

Soontir Fel takes the Focus Action. Gains a focus token

Soontir uses PTL to take the Evade Action. Gains an evade token

PTL grants Soontir a Stress Token. Upon receipt of stress, he gains another focus token.

That's 2 focus, and 1 evade. There is no way (currently) for Imperials to pass Focus to someone else, so Soontir at present can never have 3 Focus tokens (with the exception provided in Aminar's example)...

You are correct in that he has 3 "tokens", but they are not 3 Focus tokens...

I knew i forgot something...

Edited my comment to include your example.

in my version he have a target computer

in the first he make a target lock than he use evade and after he get the stress toke he use focus

I'm just going to chalk this up to language barrier. Fly Casual my friend...

Sorry for the hi-jack. You may now return to your OP's discussion. :)

Surely stealth on Soontir is far better than target lock.

Let me know how well using the Interceptors in this list works. I haven't tested those ones. I really like the Shuttle one, however. I want to coin a name for it. I suppose "Buzzsaw Swarm" works. OR "Buzzard Swarm" has a nice ring.

Also, as far as TC vs SD on Fel, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with him. If you want a Flanker who hits REALLY hard, TC is awesome. If you want Fel to get targetted and use him as bait, defense is good.

I like Fel in this set up

Fel, Royal Guard Tie, Stealth Device, Targeting Computer, Push the Limit (35)

I am actually going to try him with 5 Obsidian Pilots....

Putting a SD on Fel though means changing out Howlrunners ST for something. I've tried it with adrenaline rush on Howl which is ok but I like having the offensive punch of more ships firing at PS 8.

I like having Fel with the TC as you're almost guaranteed to hit with all your shots, Jax is great at spoiling your opponents turn and the shuttle puts out a solid amount of damage and can soak up a lot in return. I guess it depends on your preference and what you're likely to be facing! I've had good success with all 3 lists and am undecided which i'll use!

Surely stealth on Soontir is far better than target lock.

Heck no! Soontir already has all the defense he needs. He moves last and attacks first. TC boosts his offensive power. In a perfect round, Soontir will evade, TL, then receive a focus. The TL helps him kill his opponent, the Evade helps avoid damage, and the focus is used as needed.

omicron + gunner + fire control computer

alpha squad x4

lots of fire power for first exchange, shuttle always bites it first, but while they are targeting him, my squints pick off your ships 1 by 1

This is one I am planning on taking to the tourney (if I can make it):

Bounty Hunter + RecSpec (36)

Royal Guard + PtL + SU + TC (31)

Backstabber (16)

Night Beast (15)

I have 2 points left over to either spend on seismics or turn TC -> HU and Night beast -> Dark Curse
