Am I missing something, or has it gone completely silent on upcoming books for EotE? Is this normal for FFG's multi-system game worlds?
New books?
Well in fairness to FFG they are launching AoR and they have F&D beta coming out this august at Gencon likely, so their plate is pretty full. I bet we will see something in September for EoE.
There are sometimes gaps in similar brand games, so people will have interest/money to hop on a new game line.
There will be more edge products, probably announced concurrent to Age of Rebellion's release.
While he didn't give names, dates, or details, Sam Stewart certainly implied the existence of additional supplements during his last appearance on the Order 66 Podcast.
Are we sure that FFG will continue adding source books for EotE in the future and not phase over to AoR sourcebooks instead?

There's still a massive amount of stuff for them to touch on in EotE, one of the many being invention rules for the Technician career. There's no reason to think they won't finish up all the careers for every core, at the bare minimum. And the source books for sectors are just generally good for all cores, only difference is some sectors will lend better to a different core, so no reason to think they wouldn't stop on that front either. And adventure modules are bound to keep coming out for all the cores as long as they've got decent ideas.
Really, the only question is how AoR and subsequently FaD will affect the releases of books, since it seems they'll be sticking to the 1-a-month plan, it's just a matter of seeing how often each core will get something in a year.

I guess that depends on the definition of source book. EoE has 4 splat books left for the remaining careers. In regards to regional books like Suns of Fortune, I don't see it as a zero sum of either or, but rather any future regional books would incorporate elements for both an EoE game, as well as AoR.
For their WH40K line which is similarly linked but different games, they did keep releasing books after the publication of later ones. I think it's a dubious idea splitting it into three product linesbut I'm not worried about them abandoning one anytime soon. Hope that reassures. They probably just want to stimulate sales of AoR as it's the launch of a new line and more simply, it will be a lot of the same people working on both.

They keep releasing, but they slow waaaaay down. Look at the one year gap between products that Black Crusade is trying to get over right now for an example.
Roleplaying Games make a relatively small contribution to FFG's turnover (10% IIRC) so I think their development team is limited and can only work on so many products simultaneously. Right now their focus will probably be on AoR and DH 2nd Ed.
EDIT: From FFG's GenCon Seminar:
"RPG's make up 10% of "market share of what we sell". 37% board games. 24% LCG's. 16% miniatures. 9% supplies. 4% other."
Edited by HorusZAI think they will be steady in releases. The rules are more or less set. They need to come up with a few unique talents for the splat books but it is mostly content now and with their format for the books they've released so far I would think their workload is fairly predictable.
Yeah. For the time being AoR is the primary focus of the team. I suspect they will do more or less similar releases for EotE at first before continuing on with EotE.
So, Beginner game, CRB, GM screen, adventure and other supplements (I suspect another adventure, 2 class books and a system supplement). I suspect that this year may only see one more EotE supplement at the most as AoR is matched pace with EotE releases.
Once they are on equal footing, then we will start to hear about F&D CRB/beginner game. It's up in the air really, but the development team can only focus on so much at any given time.
Once all three books are out, will they have to keep separating out the books by name? I figure once they've all seen source books for their particular classes and such, we may get the "miskatonic" treatment and just get supplements for "FFG Star Wars Roleplaying Experience," or whatever the unofficial name for this line as a whole ends up being.
While I'm sure some players may love a gigantic all in one rulebook for all 3 games, that simply isn't FFGs focus. They want EotE player groups to know that white books are what they want to buy in the SWRPG line. Different faces, 95% exact same rules.
They will hope AoR will attract new players while also satisfying their current EotE player base with new skill trees/races/equipment/ships. Really, only time will tell how AoR will impact the market.
I hope it's a success, simply because I want Disney to look at FFGs contract and renew it without hesitation.
3 weeks since the last news item on EotE and people act like it has been months...

I'm not optimistic, but I would love to see this.
Mind you, I'd like to see them role the different Star Wars forums together and I doubt they'll do that, either. ![]()

All the books released/announced so far say 'Star Wars Roleplaying' on the front... maybe we will see combined books later on? EotE = white, AoR = red, F&D = blue? Then maybe SWR will be green? Gold? Black? Just speculating. If that does eventually happen, like knasserll, I'd be happy to see them combine the forums at that point. ![]()
It would be tricky to make generic "Star Wars RPG" supplements, because there are a couple of things unique to each line, plus the focus is different. It would be difficult (though not impossible) to write generic adventures and never mention Duty, Obligation, or Balance (or whatever the Force mechanic will be called), etc.
In the end, as long as we don't see a lot of cross-content, it's all good.
In retrospect if, and this is a big if, they decide to have future regional sourcebooks include information for both systems I wish they had done something like a Hutt Space book in place of Suns of Fortune and saved the Corellian book for after AOR was out. Hutt Space is really only vital to the underworld/slash fringe element that EOE focuses on IMO while the Corellian sector is key to both the fringe elements and the rebellion so IMO a joint AOR/EOE Corellian sector book would make a lot more sense than a joint Huttspace book, though they'll hopefully do a Second AOR Corellian book at some point.

Why not include all of 'em? A page or two each wouldn't reduce the size of the adventure too much (I think). Then, game groups only using one line could ignore what didn't apply to their games... or they could read it and say, "Oh, Obligation sounds cool... let's buy EotE!" ![]()
RogueCorona - While Suns of Fortune is my favorite supplement yet for EotE, I agree that Corporate Sector or Hutt Space seems like it would have made more sense for EotE specifically. (and man, I really want a Corporate Sector Sourcebook.)
I.J Thompson - True, the marketing value may be a plus for generic FFG Star Wars. It could certainly be done. I'd rather see generic Star Wars FFG books than a lot of cross-content.
As far as I'm concerned, AoR sourcebooks are just another another expansion for EotE campaigns. Nothing spices up living on the edge like some Empire/Rebel involvement.
More generic books like region books could be aimed at more than one line. Also, down the road, adventure or campaign books that combine elements from all three lines would be viable. Down the road i could see supplements for KotOR or a legacy campaign, depending on what gets kept as far as canon and can be used. I am planning my own "Legacy" campaign once I get my hands on F&D for my group. Before the Legacy books and the Lost tribe short stories came out I planned a return of the Sith modeled using the issues of Dungeon and Dragon that focused on the Githyanki invasion.

I agree, given it's place in the movies, I don't see why a Tatooine sourcebook could not encompass elements of all three CRBs.

You're not the only one with this exact thought.
