The 1st Aerial Assault Chrysopelea Regiment is aboard the Imperial Navy cruiser, the Vox Belli. They and the Vostroyan 1054th Void Shrikes are to assault and retake the massive star fort Lycurgos from Severan Dominate rebels in Warzone Epsilon. Alpha squad is practicing zero-g maneuvers, but they are nearly suffocated after a disastrous performance.

The nearly fatal exercise is interrupted by alarms and officers telling them they are exiting warp and preparing for the assault. The squad attempts to requisition their gear after a briefing, but are forced to scrounge for void suits after some bureaucratic foul-ups. They wait to be launched from some landing craft, but the Vox Belli is badly damaged by the star fort's defenses, which were profoundly underestimated. The landing craft are powered down and the soldiers learn they must exit the dying cruiser via an airlock.

Alpha Squad rushes through the cruiser, though their priest, Father Angelos, is badly wounded during a fall. The drop troops manage to reach the airlock after these and other misfortunes, exiting into one of the docking arms of the star fort. They immediately come under withering fire from the Severan Dominate defenders, who have slaughtered most of the Void Shrikes who assaulted ahead of them.

Alpha Squad's company of their fellow drop troops battle their way past the traitors' defenses, eliminating heavy bolter teams and lines of riflemen behind metal barricades. They also neutralize a Sentinel walker, one of several set up to slow their advance. As they press forward, however, the Vox Belli begins to succumb to the damage it sustained from the star fort's cannons.

The cruiser explodes, rupturing the airlock, disabling power in the section of the landing arm where the squad is fighting. The air is sucked out of the beach head, and the company of drop troops finds itself floating in zero-g mid-assault.

I've yet to GM/play in a no surrender campaign, but the excitement of this report keeps your eyes curiously reading for more & want more details!

What happen to the priest after he was injured? How did alpha squad succeed where the void shrikes failed?
