Omni-Kath, tie swarm, or Biggs walk the dogs

Going to my second tournament at the end of may for the Assault on Imdaar game they are having

My first tournament I feel I got kind of shafted for a few reasons

1) The To decided not to use asteroids which I believe is wrong, I think according to ffg events they are to be used

2)Due to one or two having to leave early the O decided to change the matches from 75 min to 60,and 3 games instead of 4.

This really made a huge difference because for starters if we would have had that extra few min I could have defeated one of my opponents rather than winning by destroying more ships which gave me 3pts instead of 5. One more turn would have done it.

I won 2 out of 3 games but not having that full win plus only losing one game, where if we played one more I may have ranked in top 3 instead of 4th.

So this time I really want to win this next tournament so I've been thinking what should I play?

1) Tie swarm

I've only played this once and won but this type of squad can really slow the game down, making it harder for a clean win and probably isn't very forgiving if tout make a mistake, but if the To decided again to do something stupid like not use asteroids this can be a huge advantage ( the player who won the tournament I was at was flying swarm and I believe no asteroids was a huge advantage for him, since it was my first I didn't argue, but I'll definitely speak my mind this time around)

2) Your Standard biggs walks the dogs build as this seems popular and does well in a lot of tournaments

Again I think I've only flown this once and I don't think I've won with it. I could use practice flying the b wings but again don't know how well I can perform with them

Then there is this I've used 2-3 times against some friends and have gone 3/0 with it

Rebel captive

Marksmen

Omnicron pilot

Vader

Omnicron pilot

Sensor jammer

Heavy laser canon

The problem with this is I've only flown against people I know.

It did really well, but I know if my opponent gets behind my shuttles it can be very bad.

Plus having vader dealing damage to my own ship is also going to help my opponents.

I'm not sure how well it does against swarms and your xxbb builds.

Having 30hp sounds nice.

Having kath stressing out the pilots can work really well.

One game I had wedge with 3 stress tokens.

I'm just concerned as to how well this would fly against other builds.

I guess I'm wondering what the majority here would think.

It seemed like at the last tournament I was at the were mostly rebels flying. I guess cause they have shields and such

That is another thing. The kath build is a 3 ship build so I really have to kill things quick if I'm outnumbered.

Decisions decisions lol.

I'll get to play a few games before then so I'll try them out but I'll only be flying against the same people.

Been trying to find others in my area but no luck ( the tournament is a 3 hour drive)

go for extreme heavy firepower. Talking about things like HLC + TL + F here, where you consistently slap your opponent with confirmed strings of 4-5 hits all the time.

reasoning is simple. You do not have much time, so hitting hard would mean that you have an advantage when time is called.

The first thing I would do is find another place to play.
