Derp. Yes, of course. Should have read the post title!

To build off of that: could a ship without the Target Lock action that receives a lock token from Jendon move that lock to another ship during the activation phase, like a ship with Target Lock can? I would say no, since it lacks the action that allows it to lock in the first place, but it was under some discussion with my group.

but you can still barell roll with expert handling even without the barell roll icon

What does "move that lock to another ship" mean?

A ship with TL action in the action bar cannot move any tokens. It can perform a TL action. Which allows it to acquire a TL. If it already has a TL it needs to discard that TL to acquire a new one.

From the Target Lock rules on page 9 of the rulebook:

Target lock tokens are only removed if the locking ship

either acquires a target lock on a different ship or

spends the target lock during the Combat phase.

Meaning you can switch targets. So what I was asking is if a ship without the TL action that is given a TL token can switch their target.

Can a ship without Target Lock action acquire a target lock?

Jendon passes along the targeti g data to the limited computers on board a TIE, it can hold that lock, it cannot compute a new one.

I believe no you can't on the second. You're not 'moving' the target lock, you're dropping your current and acquiring another one. If you don't have that skill, Jen you can't acquire one organically without Jendon.

The TL token does not allow it. The ship needs to acquire a TL. Which is not limited to performing a TL action from your action bar. Right now there is no way for imperial ships to do that. But there might be one in the future.

Well, there's Targeting Computer now, which gives a ship the TL action.

Yes, but your question was about ships without the action.
