Wild Karrde / Hound's Tooth Project

By SheepDog, in X-Wing

Ok here we go. I believe that FFG could release these 2 vessels as epic ships. WK for Rebels and HT for Empire. Both ships would be about the same size as the GR-75.

Wild Karrde : Modified transport ship with 3 retractable turbolasers, a stealth device (epic stealth, say it isn't so), and an assortment electronic warfare equipment.

The concept for this ship would be stealth, electronic warfare, role customization, and offensive capability. Sort of a cross between the GR-75 and CR-90.

Another side benefit would be the models ability to simply be a normal cargo vessel as well (for either rebel or empire). Would need to come with neutral pilot card and stat for this role.

Hound's Tooth : Badass bounty hunter ship. Contains turret-mounted quad-laser cannon, a secondary ion cannon, and a forward-firing concussion missile launcher.

Sounds sweet. I know. But keep one hand free cause the really awesome part is Nashtah Pup . A custom z-95 scout ship. This could come with HT, have Bossk as a pilot (OH NO YOU DIDN'T!) and a special rule maybe saying it can only be in the game if HT is. This would be the first semi-cross over ship, but exclusive to Epic.

Once again though, this Z-95, with its badass custom paint job could be used in normal play (obviously not when playing againist HT in Epic) by a rebel fleet using regular z-95 rebel pilots. It would be a free unique model.

If you do play with it in a normal non-epic game and some fan boy says that you shouldn't have a rebel pilot flying Bossk's z-95 just stare at him unblinking for 7 seconds and then inform him you once took his sister on date to Sizzler and she was really impressed.

Speaking of Sizzler, HT has a wookie skinning room. MMMMmmmm Wookie.

Model Size:

All stats from Wookepdia.

WK length : 125m

HT length : 62m

GR-75 length : 90m

We know that the scale for huge ships has tolerance windows. Given that I believe that WK can come down a bit and HT bumped up a bit to meet somewhere around the size of the GR-75 model. Placing both ships firmly in the Huge catagory.

Ship / Pilot Lore

Another compelling reason this project could be great is that both ships have a ton of Star Wars love.

HT pilot is Bossk . Enuff said. If you don't know who Bossk is but are reading this forum then you are either lost or have alot of free time.

WK pilot is Talon Karrde . Once again. Enuff said. He may not have been in the movies, but he has been in just about everything else. Dude gets around.

Both of these ships and pilots have a ridiculous amount of lore and what not for FFG to do tons of cards, named crew, whatever they want.

Both ships would be unique enough to bring new roles and cards / capabilites to the Epic format and both have that Star Wars love. I firmly believe that both these characters have fanboy love falling from the sky "I just wanna own it for the model" respect. IT'S BOSSK DUDE. He collects wookie skins as a hobby!

Epic Point Values

Here I don't really have an answer. Given that I am trying to place these ships on the same level with the GR-75 I would lean toward 2, but they would probably have alot more capabilities than an actual transport so maybe it should be 3.

So thats it. Sorry for the rant. Let me know what you think. Unique card ideas, Crew, systems, epic stealth, stats, point costs, upgrades, etc.

I really believe these 2 ships would not only add alot of value to the game but would be instant buys for alot of x-wing players and star wars fans.

Love the game. Keep up the good work FFG.

would love to see em caue boosk and karde have so much background story that they are must for this game !!

if we have boba fett already why not bossk who fought most of the time alongside boba even if it wasntp lanned but yeah they worked together most of the time

One major problem is that both are fugly!

One major problem is that both are fugly!

the falcon is ugly aswell so what >.>

I don't think either of them are ugly.

They both look like flying Sandcrawlers.

Are you saying Sandcrawlers are ugly!?!

Nope

Starwars.com lists the length of the Hound's Tooth at about 47 meters--longer than the Falcon 's 34m, but nowhere near the 90m of the GR-75 or the 125m Wild Karrde .

One major problem is that both are fugly!

Who's scruffy lookin?

The Wild Karrde and Hound's Tooth? Make it so FFG!

Another large ship that I would like to see in the game would be the Pulsar Skate considering that its pilot, Mirax Terrik, often flew with Rogue Squadron and is the childhood friend of Wedge and also the wife of Corran Horn. What do you guys think of that?

I view the Pulsar Skate as more in line with a large ship not epic. It does have an interesting history and I could see maybe a gambler kind of role for it in battle (something similiar to Porkins skill).

As a poster mentioned above that he considers the WK and HT less than comely, I have seen many comment that the Lady Luck looks like she was beaten with the ugly stick.

I like the Hounds tooth Idea, but I think the issue is that both of these are control ships. I feel that one needs to be a gun boat. Also the Wild Karrde is kind of a neutral ship or even more Rebel than Imp.

My vision was Wild Karrde as a Rebel Space combat control ship. Electronic warfare, maybe limited stealth, with some offensive capabilites.

Hound's Tooth I viewed as an Empire Gun Boat w/ the z-95 scout ship. It would also be interesting to have the ion on an epic.

Both ships though I thought should have a customization (through titles, cards, etc.) to fill different roles depending on what ship they may be paired him.

An example would be having the WK be more offensive when used inconjunction with the GR-75 and more support when paired with the CR-90.

That sounds good, but I think the Imperial fan boys would lose it if they only got one ship and the Rebellion got 3

It is my assumption (and I think its a good one) that the Imp Huge ships are already done (models, cards, titles, pilots, etc.) and are being final play tested. I firmly believe they will be announced at the LATEST at Gencon. Don't be surprised if they are spoiled sooner.

The WK and HT idea is based on the assumption that they would be the 3rd epic ships for both factions.

AH! My Apologizes.I could see those two working as the huge ships. I think Gen Con would be the the time they release it for a Christmas Ship date. That way around that time they can release the 3 wave of them if they have them. That is how I would do it at lease as a marketer.

I think the epic Imperial ships announcement will come very soon.

The Transport's quick arrival to market has really surprised me. I expected early June.

If the CR-90's "boat ride" is short as well and Wave 5 shows "on the boat" status in mid to late may FFG is going to have to start releasing info for upcoming products.

The Imp Huge ships will be the first announcement in my humble opinion.

Bumped for love!

Bumped cause people are posting about these ships again.

One major problem is that both are fugly!

Nnnope!

Given the name 'Project' in the title, does that mean you're going to develop some fanbrew rules for it, as well as some notion of how to represent it on the table?

I wasn't planning on doing any of that. This was just my idea for how these 2 ships could be added to the game giving each faction a new shiny epic ship for play.

FFG has done such a great job with product development and balance that I would be afraid to mess with anything. I just hope they do these 2 ships and other bounty Hunter / Smuggler models.
