E: If this attack deals damage, commit all cards, discard all momentum, and return each player to their character's maximum vitality. Cards committed by this ability may not be readied until after your next turn.
Does this count as vitality gain?

A vitality gain would say gain X vitality. In this case it would say "both players gain X vitality, where X is their starting vitality minus their current vitality". So no its not, in the same way that holding ground is not damage reduction.
Except holding ground can be a damage reduction/gain... just not a damage bonus/penalty.
Holding ground can mean that a reduction of damage takes place, but in of itself is not damage reduction. I assume youre wanting to negate the effect with a particular card, like Prominent Noblewoman, or something like The Master of Ostrheinsburg?
Dan's Dragon Punch has the exact same wording as Replenishment, which does not cause either player to "gain vitality."

Could you explain please how gaining vitality is not gaining vitality?
I suppose it's true if a player is already at their maximum vitality that they don't gain any vitality, but I don't see how an increase can not be an increase. That's crazy talk!
Aslum... shove it.
Everyone, please cool it.
Please feel free to respectfully disagree with each other, but calling people names because you don't like their opinion really doesn't add anything to the discussion.
The listed rules arbiters are the final say for questions brought up here. If James or Steve feels that something needs to be changed or clarified, they will do so in an official document. Until then, the rules arbiters' rulings are official.

Respectfully 433, the only one overreacting here IS a rules arbiter. No rules arbiter has made a ruling on this, at least not in this thread, and the search is frankly crap. Regardless, no one has called anyone names.

My apologies for not being more clear.
The "being polite to other users" edict applies to all.
