300 Point Epic Imperial Lists

By LeoHowler, in X-Wing

A bunch of shuttles, with heavy laser cannons, and some tie defenders and phantoms when they come out. Why the shuttles you ask ? They don't like being upstaged by the much bigger rebel transport, though the now more then 6 of them makes me sad, I wanted to fill my whole list up with them.

I'd be a little hesitant to load up on Shuttles. The Corvette with the Single Turbolaser will really, really hurt. A 5 Attack vs 4 Def and a 4 Attack vs 2 Def will hurt a bit. At Range 5, the shuttle won't even be able to fire back.

Howlrunner+swarm
Black+swarm x3
Black+DTF x2
Scimtar x4
Gamma x4

Soontir+PTL+stealth
Dark Curse
Backstabber

299pts.

That is 8 TIEs, 8 Bombers, 1 Interceptor. Shooting at 9, 8, 8, 6, 6, 4, 4, 4... 2. 75 HP, 17 attacks. Howl in a 14 ship swarm, Soontir, Backstabber, and Dark Curse to flank. Also probably takes 45 minutes per turn. Obviously keeping all 14 within range 1 of Howl is going to be tough, perhaps impossible, but the sheer # of ships means she's likely to get to do her thing a LOT. Bombers in front to soak the damage in the opening exchanges.

RGP's for escort on the flanks, Defenders for close support and keeping energy down, Jendon in the back for support and the bombers to, well, bomb the ever loving hell out of anything that dares to look in their direction.

Or, you could drop the RGP's to Saber and put some munitions failsafe on the bombers as well.

You know, Assault Missiles are going to be fun to use on ships with a really big ass Range 1...

Very very rough list:

8x Academy TIE's with Howlrunner (102pts)

3x Royal Ints with RG, PTL, SU, SD (96pts)

4x Gamma Bombers with Jonus with 6+ missiles and bombs (up to 102pts)

...or possibly 4 more bombers instead of the squints! More bombs! Well placed bombs are going to be huge against the huge ships!

That's some good diversity + a lack of good targets (except for Jonus but he should survive by the time his bombers empty the tubes) or so it seems to me.

So ...that, or 9 Bounty Hunters as someone suggested... or even 12 Ivory Cosmic Bovines with Engine Upgrades (for a total of 120 hit points!!) :D

So many options!

The huge ships move AFTER all others anyway ... so Scimitar Squadron Bombers will be fine against them ..

Jonus + Deadeye + Homing + Homing + Hull Upgrade

3 x Scimitar + Proton Torp + Clusters

8 x Tie Fighter

4 x Saber + PTL

= 16 Ships and 300 points

He doesnt, i mis-read his card, whoops, was thinking that instead of start of combat phase it said when he acquired a lock.

he's still crazy good in this format though.

I think Kagi would be great as well. Just imagine how many Alpha strikes you could ruin.

Again, I think until the Imperials get a ship that can go toe to toe with the Corvette, you are going to need Ions. While we don't know quite what the energy generation of the ships will be like, using Ions will put the pressure on. Especially on the Corvette. Keeping the Corvette from generating energy keeps is somewhat vulnerable. While they will likely still be able to use some of their close up weapons, preventing them from building up enough for, say, Toryn Farr or Ionization Reactor or Slicer Tools, then you are doing good.

Suddenly, the Ion Pulse Missile is looking very, very good for Epic play.

Firstly, this isn't an Imperial Squad. Secondly, it's such a low amount of Agility dice. Thirdly, I want to try it just cuz.

12x Blue Squadron Pilot+Fire Control System. 288 points. Don't know what to do with the remaining twelve, but yeah. 12 B-Wings. All with TL+Focus. 96 Hit Points. 96.

Use the 12 extra points to give 4 of them Hull Upgrade. Now your squad has an even 100!

I honestly think at 300 points, quantity will outweigh quality. I also plan on approaching it in 100 point groups. So group 1 will be my favourite tie swarm, the TIE-Stars.

Group 1

Howlrunner

Mauler Mithel + Outmanuever

Dark Curse

Backstabber

Black Squadron + Draw their Fire

Black Squadron + Draw their Fire

Group 2

Kath Scarlet + Marksmanship + Gunner

Krassis + HLC + Recon Specialist

Group 3

Darth Vader + Elusiveness + Engine Upgrade

Turd + PTL + Targeting Comp

Sootnir + PTL + Targeting Comp

Saving 3 points for future upgrades or pilot skills, or maybe a ptl on Howlrunner.

Thats a lot of high PS attacks.

12 bandit squadron z95's with 10 prototype pilots with the refit for 294 points! Talk about swarms!

Right now this is what I've come up with. I'm writing my list based on the models I actually own, so I wouldn't have to go out an buy more ships to run this list. Actually... this list is my entire Imperial collection! :)

Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 29
Squad Leader 2
Concussion Missiles 4
"Howlrunner" — TIE Fighter 18
Swarm Tactics 2
"Mauler Mithel" — TIE Fighter 17
"Winged Gundark" — TIE Fighter 15
Soontir Fel — TIE Interceptor 27
Push the Limit 3
Targeting Computer 2
Kir Kanos — TIE Interceptor 24
Turr Phennir — TIE Interceptor 25
Colonel Jendon — Lambda-Class Shuttle 26
Fire-Control System 2
Weapons Engineer 3
Gunner 5
Engine Upgrade 4
ST-321 3
Captain Jonus — TIE Bomber 22
Proton Torpedoes 4
Proton Bomb 5
Krassis Trelix — Firespray-31 36
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Proton Bomb 5
Cluster Missiles 4
There are 6 points left over for an upgrade or two that I haven't thought of yet but I am looking forward to flying my entire Imperial collection in a single game :D

290 points, 10 left for customization. Defense on Howlrunner and maybe a couple Ion Cannons. Good luck flying in formation with everything, but technically its possible to get rerolls on most the ships.

12 TIEs + 4 Bounty Hunters:

Howlrunner

Dark Curse

Backstabber

Academy Pilot x9

Bounty Hunter x4

Here's a more fun list, and this may prove to be extremely effective as well.

MASS SHUTTLE ATTACK!

3x Omicron Group Pilot + FCS + Engine Upgrade + Gunner (96)

3x Omicron Group Pilot + FCS + Engine Upgrade + Heavy Laser Cannon (102)

Howlrunner + 7 Academy TIEs (102)

  1. Target priority for your opponent is not easy to decide. If you go after Howlrunner and her TIEs, the Shuttles are going to run loose and chew you up.
  2. Buzzsaw Shuttles are just begging for epic play. They can actually be used as flankers and have no shortage of targets, so the poor dial is far less of a concern.
  3. The three shuttles with Heavy Laser cannons should do well against the Corvette, if they can just hang out at range 3:
  • HLC Shuttles: 4 attack dice vs 0 (1 guaranteed evade per attack with reinforce).
  • Corvette: 4 attack dice vs 2.
  • 3 Shuttles: 30 hull / shields, 96 points
  • 1 Corvette: 24 hull / shields, 90 points before any upgrades

Am I insane for wanting 6 Shuttles now? I have 3 and was planning on getting a 4th anyway.

This new Epic format looks... pricey. I mean, I love running multiple Firesprays and all, but I don't know if I can be tempted into buying several more.

I'm pretty sure I could manage a 300 point list with either rebs or imps, but it wouldn't be a well thought out list. It would just be me fielding every ship I have and then probably having to dump a ton of upgrades on them to flesh out the points.

I'm pretty sure I could manage a 300 point list with either rebs or imps

With out any upgrades, and only using the cheapest generic pilots I can put down 364 points worth of Imperials and 376 points worth of Rebels.

I think that the major disadvantage of using Epic play is that in tournaments those who have the most money will be able to try out more competitive lists with more ships. The rebels will fill up a ton of points with huge ships but it's going to take some big bucks to buy twelve ties and more that you won't use most of in normal games.

I also think that it will take much more time to find the best and most competitive lists in Epic Play, simply because it takes three times as long as a regular game. This is going to take some getting used to.

Epic is not really changing my buying habits. Other than maybe picking up 6 Defenders instead of 3.

but it's gonna take some big bucks to buy twelve ties and more that you won't use most of in normal games.

I don't think 12 ties is the way to go, not for Epic. IMO better to mix things up by adding more types of ships in.

I think a squad of 5 members of Saber squadron and 5 Royal Guard members would make a fun thematic and deadly list:

[36] Soontir Fel + Push the Limit + Royal Guard TIE + Stealth Device + Hull Upgrade

[32] Turr Phennir + Push the Limit + Royal Guard TIE + Stealth Device + Hull Upgrade

[30] Tetran Cowall + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

[27] Saber Squadron Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

[27] Saber Squadron Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

and

[35] Carnor Jax + Push the Limit + Royal Guard TIE + Stealth Device + Hull Upgrade

[28] Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

[28] Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

[28] Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

[28] Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

Total: 299

Just need 5 copies of Imperial Aces and you'll be good to go! :P

dont know what would be competative but i know that i will bring up my 3 tie advances with vader in charge and such thiunkin of mixing rest with interceptors man with 300 points i really dont know what to bring on the table !!!! and i hate this 12 small ship limitations make it 18 ships and 3 medium sized not 6 but yeah i have to get used to it i guess >.>
