Did FFG Tip Their Hand About Imperial Huge Ship?

By Goknights12, in X-Wing

I don't think we will see a Epic Cost 5, but a 1 and 4 is quite possible. What about a Tartan Cruiser. It says it is 250 meter (which is pretty long), but it is not a ship that is widely known, or one that has to be that long, so you could make it smaller (or scale it a little less) to make it fit and have it still look correct.

Team epic is limited to 3 epic points per player, so any ship worth more than 3 points would be excluded from this format under the current rules. This implies that the CR90 is more or less the ceiling for the epic format.

That doesn't mean a Star Destroyer worth 200 can't be 3 Epic Points. It's a way to restrict the number of a given ship on the board, the Point Costs don't need to correlate.

I would LOVE to see the Imperial Escort Carrier from the Rogue Squadron III video game. Have it come with a TIE Hunter and a TIE advanced, and Inwould be fine if it was the only Imperial Epic ship released in the first wave.

You know, i totally forgot about those. That would be a good epic sized ship for the imperials. Wookiepedia says it has 6 guns, the same as the cr-90. Seeing as how they got the phantom from FoC it could be very likely that they could pull the storm commando escort carrier from RSIII....

I think they could do this and the tartan cruiser, again from FoC. The IEC is roughly the same size as the transport, and the tartan could be scaled to the CR-90

How so? In Rogue Squadron it looks much thinner than the rebel transport and about just as long.

To clarify, it is the Storm Commando Imperial Escort Carrier.

Someone said it earlier but Marauder class corvette would be awesome.

How big is the victory class, im sure it would be small enough for epic.

That's an assumption, FFG may very well have a system in place where the epic points do in fact correlate to the squad point cost.

But a 200 point ship that costs 3 epic points is not a ISD, it's a corvette with delusions of grandeur.

Storm Commando Imperial Escort Carrier  ?! ... the Imperial Escort Carrier is 500m in length

and the Storm Commando Imperial Escort Carrier is how long?

The Tartan is 250m btw.

VSD is 900m long. So still far to big.

900m ...

And since we're rehashing this, let's throw in here that FFG does not have the final say in these matters. Any sort of rescaling will need permission as was noted when the huge ships were first announced.

I doubt Disney/Lucasfilm will allow a watering down of an ISD to the size of a CR90.

I can see ships up to 300 meters being made into models eventually. Though the Rebellion, and other groups, have plenty of small HUGE ships the Empire has few as small as the CR-90.

Victory being 900 meters would require a model six times bigger than the CR-90.

The thing is...

There's more then enough options out there to find something that fits in terms of both size and firepower that there is simply no reason to use a ISD.

I don't buy for a moment that most people would be happy with a ISD that's about 1.5 to 2 times the size of a CR-90, not at 1.5 to 2 times the cost... With 1/10th the firepower and defenses it should have.

That said something like the Vigil or a whole new ship that has the wedge shape, that is 150-250m long with 4-6 guns would both work, and capture the Imperial look.

Exactly!

I found a few good choices. Chief among them the Vigil Class and the Customs Corvette

Once again I refer you to: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_escort_carrier_(storm_commando )

No official scale was ever given, but according to Wookieepedia, they were used to attack and capture medium-sized craft and Rebel Transports .
