Deathstar mat obstacles

By Hiredgun4, in X-Wing

My friend brought his Deathstar mat this weekend, and we needed obstacles.I had some buildings from another game, and they worked quiet well.

they're from a game called Monsterpocalyps frpm Privateer Press.

Fantastic game. Wish I knew what the issue PP has with it is.

Hadn't thought about using the buildings for DS surface features, but yeah, really good fit.

PP sold the IP rites to Pixar. They're making a movie.

What has happened with Monsterpocalypse is either corporate ineptitude of a grand scale or corporate negligence beyond excuse.

This is an *awesome* game. I'm talking about Monsterpocalypse (though X-Wing is just as awesome ;) ) Even now years after Privateer Press stopped supporting it, it has a loyal player base. The Team Covenant guys even had a yearly weekend event devoted to Monsterpocalypse that lasted 3 or 4 years. The game was SELLING and selling well!! But try to get Privateer to even acknowledge this game of their own making. After intimating that more Monpoc was on the way, even after changing the model from collectible miniature to a "collect your faction" format (a'la X-Wing) that by all accounts had the game selling better than before, PP went into total silence after for all intents and purposes abandoning their baby.

Was it because of the deal with Dreamworks that was supposed to deliver a Monsterpocalypse movie? If so, there aren't enough harsh epithets to convey the frustration with PP that they painted themselves into a corner like that when they should have known better. As things stand now there will be no Monsterpocalypse film yet Dreamworks still owns the rights, and Monsterpocalypse is left hanging high and dry. I don't want to think that PP is purposely ignoring such a faithful, and significantly large and potentially larger, community of devoted players.

Monsterpocalypse could be bigger than ever for a lot of reasons. Not the least of which being that it's a very, very fun game.

Yeah, that's the rumor. That they sold the merchandising rights as part of the moviebefore realizing that the game itself could be considered merchandise. But that hasn't been fully substantiated and Privateer Press is notably silent on the issue.

but yes Monsterpocalypse is one of the bestminiatures games of the past decade. in my opinion, XWing is the only game to match it since.

The licensed the movie rights 4 years ago. Nothing has been going on on that front in forever. They still own the game, it is still on their website as an active game, they just haven't done anything with it for years. And when asked about it they say they can't talk about it.

TC is as much to blame for the death of MonPoc as Disney...if not moreso

when you push an online simulator.....so that I can play exactly the army I want without ever spending 1 dime.....not have to travel to your LGS or a friends house....

at that point WHY would i spend real actual MONEY to buy the game?

Team C's greed and stupidity helped kill it like cancer

although I have to admit...those buildings DID work well on the mat Sat night Gun...the scenario needs a lil tweaking...but the buildings and the mat were perfect :)
