This is a thing.

Yeh, the return of Maul was nooooot a high point.

Personally, I did like Anakin. All around the writing could have been better, but he was more or less what I was expecting a young Darth Vader to be. Well, in episodes 2 and 3, that is. Episode 1 is pretty much unforgivably awful.

R5-FU That is so going on a t-shirt.

Please put me down for one of those.

I thought to myself 'Huh, this could be an interesting thread to discuss possible ships found in a soon-to-be-release thing..'

Me too. Instead it turned into an expression of overly critical opinions about a kids show and the merits of its subject matter and creators. If you do not like it, do not watch it!

Well that's kinda that's point. If you don't like it, and don't watch it, then why would you care about the ships from it?

And then nearly completely obliterated by the republic and left on the brink of extinction for millennia.

Regardless, I can see both points of view, but personally enjoyed the dichotomy between the death watch and the "new mandalorians."

I enjoyed the series for what it was. I probably would have enjoyed something closer in tone and telling to Empire Strikes Back, rather then Return of the Jedi, but it still told some good tales, and did, as mentioned, show the ambiguity of the whole conflict.

I too liked the idea of the New Mandalorians. However, my problems arise when it came to the Death Watch: not they were supposed to all be destroyed (but I will agree reforming a group can be done), but they were the only other group shown on Mandalore: once again, you are either the "goody-two-shoes" New Mandalorians or the "evil" Death Watch. They never even brought out the True Mandalorian faction.

In my opinion it would have been cooler to have, as the arc went on, a growing unrest as the average people, though they hated the Death Watch, couldn't stand the inaction of the current administration. In comes Spar, promising security, safety, the people rally behind him and he overthrows Satine. This would be a parallel to what the average person felt as the Clone Wars dragged on.

I thought The Clone Wars was a show made for kids? Am I wrong in this? And if I am correct, what is the merit in debating plot points? It's like arguing about the morality in Pokemon, when anyone over the age of 10 or so shouldn't be watching that show anymore anyways. Or, god help us all, My Little Pony.

Go be ageist somewhere we aren't discussing plastic spaceships. People can enjoy and discuss the writing of anything they want. Pokemon has horrible writing, but the moral issues can be interesting. Clone Wars is surprisingly harsh and realistic for what it is. And Barney has some fantastic implications about what's put in the kids Koolaid.

Last thing the game needs is more turreted ships, imo.

Looks like fun source material though.

I think the game needs a ship with a 540 degree arc, should also cost lots of points for the extra 180 degrees. With arc degree it's like with mega-pixel for digital cameras - more is better ;)

It is a kids show, and that is very evident I watching it, but that doesn't mean that it can't be good or appeal to adults as well. A common problem with kids shows is that they talk down to the kids. The best shows are ones that will appeal to kids, but also provide meaning and depth for adults to watch that the kids might not notice.

To each his/her own. If you don't like this style of animation, or Filoni's work on Clone Wars, or TCW in general, more power to you. I know that there are things about Star Wars that I don't like, and I'm unlikely to talk anyone over to my point of view at this point.

That being said, I LOVE this clip, and I'm totally jazzed for Rebels. Not all episodes of TCW were of similar quality, but they hit it out of the park with a few of them. I felt that TCW was aimed at a younger audience, but with enough interesting plot items to keep me more than interested. Rebels is set in a time period that I care more about. I like the music better. I like the characters better, and I like the ships better.

I could definitely see a Ghost in our future...

Believe it or not but the OT movies were kids movies. Who do you think was playing with all those Star Wars toys adults? Although my dad did do some custom paint jobs for an Obi-wan and Han Solo figure that lost there heads do to me biting them off. My dad gave Han that thick 70's stache that he used to sport.

Now as adults we play with lots of toys.

As far as the Madolorians, don't you think they got their ass kicked enough times to turn the other cheek? Or just tired of war?

I used to have a hard time with people believing that Boba Fett and Darth Maul never died. If Luke can survive the fall at Cloud City I guess the others could survive as well; even if I don't like it.

I've watched the first 4 seasons of TCW so far. It has its good parts and bad parts.

THIS! This. This. This. So much This.

And so were the prequels . I'm so tired of Star Wars fans hating everything about Star Wars.

+1

I have to say I was soo disappointed with Clone Wars, then my wife asked my why. It had the same problems as the prequal movies. Uninteresting characters, vague conflicts and just bad writing.

What I have seen of Rebels those issues are fixed. I don't care one way or another about the animation style if the story is good.

I loved The Clone Wars. Sure, it had it's stinkers, but there were way more good episodes than bad. The new Mandalorians were ok for me, didn't love 'em, didn't hate 'em, but I thought the Maul arc was fantastic. Can't wait for the comics next month that wrap that up.

The treatment of the clones I thought was great. Fives and the Umbara arc really humanized them a lot.

Although I honestly think the episode with the younglings gathering their lightsaber crystals may have been my favorite.

I love the original trilogy.

I love the original trilogy with added CGI.

I love the prequel trilogy.

I loved playing Battlefront I and II.

I can't wait to get my talons on The Clone Wars and later The Rebels. Though I am not expecting much from them, they are what I love most in the global entertainment business...

STAR WARS

Tried like four times to get through the Clone Wars. Give up like three episodes in every time. Maybe I'll watch it to have the info covered or wait until my son is old enough to enjoy them and then watch with him. I do hope Rebels is good.

Star Wars has grown into such a huge, sprawling universe of different media that being a "Star Wars fan" can have a lot of different meanings. Some people will love or hate different aspects of it (Holiday special anyone?), but we are all on the SAME TEAM

And no one thing can 'ruin star wars' or 'kill your child hood'. Star Wars has always been a huge block buster force in entertainment and on some level it has always had some appeal to kids in varying degrees.

And this is coming from a man who only considers the unadulterated theatrical release OT to be true cannon

I liked the Ewok movies when a child. Now I hate them so much I'm embarrassed to admit it. But like you rightly said, we all love or hate different things.

By the way, I now consider the YouTube video "TROOPS" to be canon.

I love the original trilogy with added CGI.

I love the prequel trilogy.

Loving Star Wars is hating these thing. You are a paradox.

STAR WARS

I <3 you.

Now, the Star Wars films were certainly marketed at children with merchandise etc, but I wouldn't actually call them a kid's film. What they are are old fashioned adventure films, with action and fairly straightforward plots and heroes and villains. These will intrinsically appeal to kids, as kids like heroes, action and adventure. However, these things also appeal to many adults and frankly some of the stuff is outright unsuitable for kids, if you think about it. I am still shocked that A New Hope is a U, after Han Solo shoots a guy fairly cold bloodedly (even if he has justification) and we get to see the charred remnants of Luke's aunt and uncle. PG, yeah, but a U? The second film is actually quite dark in places (torture, despair etc), and while the third film has the ewoks (which I also loved as a kid, but now really question the decision to include), they aren't as Cute and fluffy as they might seem. When we encounter them after they capture the lead characters they are about to cook them for a sacrificial feast and where the heck did all the stormtroopers go when the battle is over ? Now, this flies over the heads of many kids, but it certainly isn't "a kid's film." It is a film with broad appeal across ages(Ewoks aside).

Now, the prequel films may have been made more deliberately as kid's films (and some of the elements suggest this) but if so some of the choices are bizarre. First we have a story about a taxation blockade and gunboat diplomacy... which frankly was boring even for adults. I guess kids could get amused by Jar Jar, and the lame action which had no sense of drama of the original trilogy. The second film... ok, lead character committing mass murder. Obvious choice for a kid's film. 3rd film? The collapse of a democracy into military dictatorship, with attached child murder on a large scale. Struck me as having a lot in common with Toy Story (which is a children's film, but one intended that adults can watch and enjoy as well).

I love the original trilogy with added CGI.

YOU'RE JJ ABRAMS?

YOU'RE JJ ABRAMS?

No...

...I'm an idiot

But If I were JJ Abrams I would (a) make the most awesome sequel trilogy ever and (b) come here to recruit actors/actresses and seek script advice.
