I had a question..

By mrhurricane23, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi Guys/Girls,

I have just started playing this awesome game, thanks to a friend of mine. It's also the first "board game" that I'm starting to take a keen interest in other than monopoly and its easy enough for the misses to get involed with.

I have already been able to find most of the answers for the questions I had either online/ re-reading the rules and cards.

I do however still have one small question. If an attacker rolls 1 blank, 1 damage, 1 crit damage, and the denfender rolls 2 blank, 1 evade, which damage dice gets cancelled due to the evade?

At the moment when we play we treat the evade to remove the crit damage dice first. But looking through the rule book it shows the normal damage dice being cancelled leaving the crit damged dice in play?

Just a bit confused on that one, other than that its a straight forward fun game to play.. if only I could use my EVE online ships on the table lol.

Thanks, I look forward to the answer!

You cancel regular damage first before critical damage results.

In addition to Galactic Funk's easy explanation of the order that (hit) and (crit) results are cancelled by (evade) results, the only thing so far that can change the order results are cancelled is the Autoblaster.

{Crits} resolve after {Hits}. They get canceled by evasion dice / evade tokens only if there are spares after the {hits}, and they hit shields only if there are spares after the {hits}

You cancel regular damage first before critical damage results.

For clarity, the rulebook says to cancel hits before crits on page 12 in the compare results section, and deal damage cards hits then crits on page 13.
